Inside, you'll find beautiful wooden ceiling beams that create a cosy, authentic cottage atmosphere. The fully equipped kitchen is perfect for preparing hearty meals, which you can enjoy in the spacious dining room or the small, sunny conservatory. For added convenience, there’s a separate shower and a handy utility room complete with a washing machine.

My family and I had a really lovely stay here. We were a group of three adults, three children and a dog and the cottage provided ample space for all of us during our two night stay. The cottage was nicely decorated and furniture was comfortable and good quality. Everything was clean and well maintained and my nephews particularly enjoyed the stocked cupboards of board games! We really appreciated the high chair, children's dinnerware and toys too for our 18 month old niece staying here. The kids also enjoyed the short stroll to McDonald's for breakfast and the dog was very happy with the field down the road! We visited Sherwood Forest, Sherwood Pines and Rufford Abbey all within a 10 minute drive. We all really enjoyed our stay here and would happily be back. We actually had to coax our dog out of the cottage when it was time to leave, he didn't want to go at all! Only minor problem was we were sent two different codes to the gates to get in. We didn't realise this at first and the first code we tried contained in an email from Vrbo was incorrect and didn't work causing a slight panic when we arrived. Luckily, we did eventually get enough signal to get online and find the correct code.

The cottage is tucked away in Old Ollerton, a charming village full of character and history, just a stone’s throw from the legendary Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood himself! It’s a peaceful spot surrounded by beautiful countryside, perfect for quiet walks, fresh air, and a real sense of escape from the hustle and bustle.

What I enjoy most about the area is the calm, it’s the kind of place where birdsong starts the day and woodland paths are just waiting to be explored. There’s something timeless about the forest and the little village lanes, and I love being able to share that tranquillity with guests.

What makes our property stand out is its rich heritage and character. Built in the 1700s, it was once home to one of the last traditional ropemakers in the UK, a rare piece of history you won’t find just anywhere. The cottage still retains many original features, including charming exposed beams and a quaint, narrow doorway leading to one of the bedrooms, a lovely nod to its past.

It’s full of character, cosy and welcoming, offering a true taste of old-world charm with the comfort of a peaceful countryside escape. Staying here feels like stepping back in time, without giving up any of the comforts of today.
