Welcome to The Retreat! A beloved ex local pub, it has been beautifully transformed into a unique holiday let in the peaceful Yorkshire countryside. Here, you get to be your own landlord, creating the perfect atmosphere for your getaway. Outside of family getaways and friends uniting, we offer  bespoke packages for events and celebrations such as weddings, birthdays, engagements, and other special occasions, with every event being unique and memorable.

Imagine stepping into your own private establishment, where the entire property – from the lively bar area to the comfortable 8 large bedrooms – is reserved exclusively for you and your chosen guests. There will be no other guests on site, ensuring absolute privacy and an uncompromised experience. You set the pace for your enjoyment, whether it's a fun evening of friendly competition around the pool table or dart board, a lively singalong on our karaoke system, or simply relaxing by the cosy indoor fireplace. You'll also find fantastic amenities like a hot tub to enhance your stay.

Our draught bar is fully functioning, adding to the authentic pub experience. However, due to licensing regulations, we are unable to allow guests to use kegs when our team is not on site. For private bookings, guests are welcome to use the fridges, equipment, and storage, and we can supply team for bespoke packages that would like keg use and bartenders.

Beyond the unique pub setting, The Retreat offers exceptional accommodations designed for large groups, featuring 8 large bedrooms. These comfortable spaces provide convenience and relaxation, making The Retreat perfect for significant events, family celebrations, and special occasions that call for plenty of room and character.

The charm extends far beyond our walls. Nestled beside the picturesque River Aire, The Retreat is set in the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, in the lovely village of Beal. This tranquil setting offers more than just scenic views; the river provides excellent opportunities for fishing, while local excursions like canoeing and kayaking invite adventure. Despite its serene location, you're surprisingly well-connected. Major cities like York (30 mins), Leeds (30 mins), Doncaster (30 mins), Sheffield (55 mins), and Hull (50 mins) are all within convenient travel distances, making The Retreat an ideal central base for exploring the wider region. We can even help organize minibuses to cities like York for days or nights out.

We want to ensure everyone has a wonderful stay while also being considerate neighbors. The Retreat is based in a residential village, and as such, we have some strict conditions attached to our license. To help us maintain a peaceful environment for everyone, we kindly ask that there is no karaoke or loud music after 11 pm. When music or entertainment is on after 9 pm, windows and doors must be kept shut at all times. Additionally, we ask that there is no socializing outside after 10 pm. Due to the specific terms of our license, we must be extremely strict on these rules. Please refer to the rules and guidance section for a comprehensive list of all our house rules.
