Thatched Cottage by East Ruston Cottages

This beautifully renovated thatched cottage offers single storey living with living room and snug for the perfect chilled break. With all amenities on the doorstep, you could spend your whole stay without having to move the car once. Having a hot tub in the garden adds an extra special touch for a truly relaxing break by the broads.

Thatched Cottage sleeps up to four guests and welcomes four dogs free of charge.

Living Room
The inglenook fireplace is the focal point of this cosy room. A large and comfortable L-shaped sofa faces the Smart TV. Windows face both the front and rear gardens.

Kitchen
The modern fitted kitchen comes equipped with all mod-cons including undercover fridge and freezer, integrated dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven and hob, microwave, air fryer and Tassimo coffee machine.

Bedroom One
Kingsize wooden bed with a window to the rear garden. There are bedside tables with lamps, wardrobe and chest of drawers for plenty of storage and a Smart TV. Enjoy use of the bath robes in the wardrobe!

Bedroom Two
Two 3′ single beds make the perfect twin room. This lovely light room has windows over the front and rear gardens, as well as beautiful stained glass windows adding to the character of this property. There is a large wardrobe, chest of drawers and Smart TV.

Bathroom
The family bathroom has a bath with overhead shower. There is a WC and sink.

Conservatory
Through the kitchen to the conservatory and dining area. A lovely place to enjoy the sunshine!

Snug
A lovely quiet area to chill on your holiday, with comfortable seating and views over the front and rear gardens.

Driveway
The long shingle driveway leads up to the property with parking for three vehicles. Close the 5-bar gate behind you for a fully secure garden.

Front garden
The front garden has a large lawned area, as well as patio with pergola with comfortable seating and gas BBQ. The solid brick walls are around 4ft high and the two pedestrian gates have been reinforced to stop little escapees! There is a small orchard area which is fenced and gated.

Rear garden
The rear garden is fully enclosed with 5-6ft solid fencing with a gate that can be secured from the inside. This area is paved with shingle areas and the wonderful 5 seater hot tub (additional charge) The hot tub is charge at £100 for a short break, £130 for a 7 night stay. Please let us know if you would like to add this to your booking.

Perfection in Wroxham

Had a lovely week at the immaculately presented Thatched Cottage. By far and away the nicest East Ruston dog friendly cottage we have stayed at. Hosts could not have done more for us. Roys is like an upmarket Waitrose and only a few steps away as are riverside walks and great eateries.

A brilliant base between the coast and Norwich

Thatched Cottage was the perfect base for visiting familiy who live in Norwich, the accommodation itself was of a high standard with everything you could need. And the very thoughtful touch of a birthday cake, as our visit coincided with my birthday. Whilst the garden has a low wall, our dogs were perfectly happy staying in the boundaries and making the most of sniffing around the big area. Also handy having the fully enclosed courtyard, perfect for late night woof wees without any worries. Location is close to all the amenities you'd need, without feeling you're in the middle of a town. Hopefully we'll have the opportunity of staying here again!

Fabulous

We had an amazing stay at the Thatched Cottage. It wrapped around us from the minute we arrived, it was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The owners provided a very generous welcome pack and the hot tub was very welcome after a day spent exploring. Could not fault it, we loved it and will be back. Thank you for a fantastic break.

Great short break

We had a great time staying at the Thatched cottage. Walking distance to Wroxham main town. The cottage was perfect for us all and the dogs. Lovely hamper on arrival and the cottage was beautiful.

Second times a charm

We’ve just returned from our second stay at Thatched Cottage, which probably says everything—this place really is something special. The cottage is beautifully maintained, comfortable, and has everything you need for a relaxing break. It strikes a perfect balance between cosy and spacious, and it’s clear a lot of care has gone into making guests feel at home. It’s also incredibly dog friendly, which made a huge difference for us, and meant we could properly relax knowing everything was set up with that in mind. We also hired the hot tub for the week, which was a fantastic addition—perfect for unwinding in the evenings. Paul, the owner, is so helpful and always at the end of the phone if needed, which really adds to the overall experience. What stood out to us both times was how peaceful and well-located it is—ideal for switching off, while still being close enough to explore the surrounding area. Coming back for a second visit, we were just as impressed as the first time, which can be rare. We wouldn’t hesitate to return again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

Another relaxing weekend at Thatched Cottage

We had the most relaxing weekend at Thatched Cottage with the dogs having stayed the same weekend last year and knowing how perfect it is for both us and the dogs we couldn’t wait for a return visit. So cosy and dog welcoming providing everything we needed for the , crates, dog beds, towels, throws for the huge settee, bowls, toys and lots of treats including doggy beer even a Mud Daddy which thankfully we didn’t need as the weather was good to us. Also a fabulous hamper for us with lots of lovely treats especially the cakes, we couldn’t ask for more. The enclosed rear garden was perfect for the boys to wander freely while we made the most of the hot tub. The cottage is situated in the perfect location to walk to the lovely shops in the village with great cafes/takeaways and just a short drive to lots of dog friendly beaches, our favourite being Sea Palling, and a visit for the first time to Bacton Woods. We visited the King’s Head at Coltishall again having found out how good the food was last year. Paul and Lisa had thought of everything to make our stay perfect and Paul was great, checking we had everything we needed even bringing a larger crate shortly after our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to staying again xx

Fabulous find

If you're looking for a beautiful spot to take your four-legged friend, this is it! The location is gorgeous, but what really set this place apart was how fantastic it was for the dog. It meant we could all relax. Plus, the hot tub was amazing! A perfect, hassle-free holiday in a stunning location

Chocolate Box Thatched Cottage

Such a beautiful cottage on the broads, it was truly a home from home stay everything you needed. Paul & Lisa left us a fabulous welcome pack it was really appreciated. The cottage was warm & cozy, the weather wasn’t great but it was a good excuse to watch the Winter Olympics guilt free. The dogs enjoyed pottering around the garden & the humans enjoyed the hot tub. I loved all the stain glassed windows. In a few weeks time the garden will be very colourful with daffodils & a huge magnolia tree ready to spring into life. The shops are all with in walking distance Roy’s supermarket offers a wide range of Norfolk/local products. Hoverton/Wroxham has a great choice of dog friendly pubs & cafe. The location was really good with lots of places easily to get to we visited Cromer, Sherringham, Overstrand, Sea Palling, Happisburgh & Scratby (bakery). We would definitely stay at Thatched Cottage again.

The Thatched Cottage

We loved our 3 night stay. A very comfortable cottage with everything you could wish for has been thought of and provided. The kitchen is very well equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker and a microwave, smart television in the lounge and also the bedroom, fully enclosed garden for our golden retriever, throws are provided for the large couch so that the dog could snuggle up with us. A short walk down to the quay and a 15 minute car drive to the beach We would definately consider booking again

Christmas Break

The cottage is a modern thatched cottage situated in the town of Hoveton near Wroxham, and as such provided an ideal base for a Christmas break. The owners had decorated it for Christmas giving a lovely welcoming feel, and they had provided a welcome pack to get us started which included a Christmas cake. The front garden of the cottage is huge but we couldn’t let our dog explore on his own as he is quite agile and could have scaled the fence if not watched. (He can do this at home!) For less bouncy dogs it is ideal. From our base we were able to reach the coast quite easily and had a very bracing walk on the beach on Christmas Day. It was lovely to return to the warm cottage to cook our Christmas dinner and enjoy a relaxing evening in front of the tv. We would recommend a stay here, especially in the winter months as all the shops you might need are in walking distance. To sum up, we had a great holiday and would recommend the cottage and ERC to others.

A great place for exploring Wroxham and the area.

We have been trying to book Thatched Cottage for a while but hadn't found any convenient dates until a short break at teh start of December. It is easy to find, with plenty of space for cars to park. The room layour is quirky, and the snug is nice for some peace and quiet. It has everything you need, and had a nice christmas tree set up in the lounge to put us in the Christmas mood. The Welcome pack was good, it saves having to go the the shop as soon as you get there, and being an ERC place there were plenty of dog blankets etc. and dog treats. If you have never heard of Roys of Wroxham stay here! The shops are a short walk away, every time we go there we come out with something unusual. The home baked food is really nice too. Plenty of places to eat, although a couple will allow dogs outside only. Fizz and Fromage, the Thai Way are recommended. Just up the road in Coltishall is the Kings Head, another great dog friendly place.

Our favorite so far,,,,,

We have stayed at few East Ruston Cottages now and thatched Cottage is our new favourite. Paul was there to great us and the welcome pack left was amazing - bananas, apples, cheese, breakfast cereal, eggs, treats for the dogs, a bar of chocolate - honestly more than we expected. The cottage has a homely chilled feeling and we were all relaxed in the stunning lounge. We made use of the hot tub which was lovely as we really miss ours when away. The location was perfect and you can be at the famous Roy’s of wroxham in a few minutes walk for anything you may need. The front garden was perfect for our dogs but I would side on the air of caution if you have dogs that like to jump/escape or are reactive to traffic noise, you do however have the much smaller stoned area around back where none of that would be an issue. Beds were comfortable, shower powerful and the sofa had more than enough room for us and dogs to laze about on. Hoping to return next year!!

Thatched Cottage - the best holiday for all of us

We just returned from our third stay at Thatched Cottage, and it was, as always, an absolute delight. Paul and Lisa are not just hosts; they have become wonderful friends who make us feel so welcome and cared for from the moment we arrive. Their attention to detail in the cottage is superb—every room is thoughtfully designed and maintained to perfection. Our two furry companions, Smudge the dog and Ollie the 23-year-old cat, also had the time of their lives. It's so rare to find a place that is so welcoming to all of our family members. A highlight of this trip was the private boat trip Paul organized for us. It was a unique and truly memorable way to experience the Broads from a whole new perspective. The cottage's location is a huge part of its charm. It perfectly combines the tranquility of the countryside with the convenience of having shops, the train station, and the river all within easy reach. There's always something to do. We're already looking forward to booking our fourth visit!

4 night break

Beautiful cottage, immaculately clean, very welcoming - hamper pack and owner to greet us, lovely big garden with good quality outside furnishing, very comfortable bed and lovely bedding, very comfortable settee. Only criticisms were poor lighting in lounge and conservatory where the dinning table was: couldn’t read or see to eat. Also steps down to conservatory, our old dog fell down them a few times and it was a struggle taking crockery, cutlery and food up and down without a tray. Would have preferred table in lounge and nice seating in conservatory to enjoy the sun. My husband does have mobility problems which I do understand this is not a disabled cottage but it would have been helpful to have a rail by the outside steps going to garage area. He found the toilet seat was a good height which was a bonus but there wasn’t room to put his stool in front of the sink to wash, he managed by sitting on edge of bath. Overall we had a very enjoyable short break at a wonderful location.

Stunning thatched cottage break!

Wow! Thatched Cottage is set in the most beautiful gardens right in the heart of Hoveton & within easy reach of all you wish to explore in North Norfolk & beyond. It is the cleanest & most immaculately presented holiday cottage we have ever stayed in, complete with so many lovely little touches & most importantly bedding that you can tell is refreshed regularly. It has been finished to such a high standard & the owners clearly work tirelessly to ensure their guests have all they need during their stay. The owners could not have been more considerate & helpful & even checked to see if we had all we needed as we were staying for longer than a week, but not intrusive in any way. The welcome goodies were very much appreciated by both us, & our dogs! The dog beds, toys & other bits & bobs were a lovely touch too & our dogs settled in straight away - which is always a good sign for us! The rear garden is fully enclosed with secure 5/6 ft fencing & was so peaceful & quiet & a fab little space for our 3 dogs (& us of course!). The festoon lighting was a lovely cosy addition & great to be able to see at night when popping outside with the dogs. Shame we chose not to book the hot tub! As advertised, the gorgeous front garden does have a low wall so not suitable for our dogs (or any dogs likely to jump the wall) to be off lead but we knew that & it didn’t deter us at all as we go out & about with our dogs anyway. We did take them for a stroll around the garden safely on their leads which was like an extra little walk to stretch their legs on our return each day anyway. Luckily, we were blessed with sunshine & got to witness the magnificent magnolia tree in full bloom - stunning! As well as the most daffodils we have ever seen whilst driving out & about. Outstanding cosy cottage & gardens. A huge thank you to the owners Paul & Lisa, & of course to Sue & George, East Ruston Cottages who are our ‘go to’ for truly dog friendly cottages, who are always so helpful with any queries you have about if a property will be suitable for your dogs or not & completely get ‘dog friendly’!

The perfect home away from home

We had a truly wonderful stay at Thatched Cottage. Our three little dachshunds absolutely loved the spacious garden, while we enjoyed the beautiful house and especially the relaxing hot tub. It was the perfect place to unwind, and we felt comfortable from the very first moment. We can wholeheartedly recommend this lovely home and would happily return anytime.
