Trullo Gaura - Four Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 8

Gorgeous gardens, peace and quiet and a dreamy pool at this beautifully restored trullo.

Situated just outside the charming town of Ceglie Messapica, one of Italy's most renowned gastronomic centres, and within driving distance of all that is best about the Valle d'Itria, Trullo Gaura is a light-filled, elegant property that's perfect for a relaxing holiday in the countryside.

Inside: accommodation at Trullo Gaura comprises two ‘wings’ divided by a central hub. The main entrance is via a charming circular courtyard which leads directly into the heart of the house: a luminous open-plan kitchen-diner and living area, from which one may access both the gorgeous gardens and the main sleeping quarters. High vaulted ceilings and pure white walls are offset by the subtle grey hues of the window frames, doors and flooring, a theme that runs throughout most of the property. Two sets of French windows make for an effortless indoor-outdoor living experience.

Between the dining table and the kitchen, a corridor leads to the ‘left wing’, where there are two lovely bedrooms. The first is a large double-twin with separate sitting area, furnished with a sofa and desk, while the second is a double. Between them is a beautifully finished shower room, featuring a delightful moulded sink and vanity area. Both bedrooms have direct access to a furnished terrace and the gardens that surround the house.

Heading back into the hub of the house, a couple of steps lead from the comfy sofas of the living area to the ‘right wing’. Here, there is a bright TV room and a double bedroom with lovely en-suite shower room. On this side of the property, but accessed only from the gardens, is the fourth bedroom, a double-twin with its own en-suite shower room.

Outside: Trullo Gaura sits amidst a gorgeous mature garden that brims with myriad species of flowers, aromatic shrubs and trees. Immediately surrounding the house, and accessed from the kitchen-diner and living area, the bedrooms in the ‘right wing’ and the fourth bedroom, are a series of furnished terraces.

From the terraced area outside the kitchen, a hop, skip and a jump will take you to the dreamy shaded al fresco dining area and then onto the pool, which is immersed in the calming verdant gardens.

While there is no mobile phone reception at Trullo Gaura, there is a good Wi-Fi connection, meaning that calls and messages can be made/received through Internet-based apps.

You may also wish to know that the pool has a single depth of 1.5m.

Trullo Gaura backyard is neighboured by a house, which sometimes hosts its owner's dog, and and a very friendly cat that can be seen occasionally in the gardens, which is very useful to keep the wildlife under control.

Due to the nature of the property, which includes terraces, low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.
Trullo Gaura is situated in the south of the Valle d'Itria between Ceglie Messapica and Martina Franca and close to Ostuni, a beautifully restored baroque town with stunning panoramic views. Ceglie Messapica has a beautiful old town centre and is renowned for the quality of its restaurants and its important food festivals. The Valle d'Itria is probably best known for its trulli, and nowhere are these more in evidence than in the picture-postcard town of Alberobello. Locorotondo and Cisternino are also well worth a visit. If you are looking for beaches, the Adriatic and Ionian coasts offer endless stretches of sand and some well-recommended lidos. Further afield, Lecce, Gallipoli, Otranto and Monopoli are justly famous towns waiting for you to unlock their secrets.
