Town: The village of Wetheral lies five miles from Carlisle in the north of Cumbria. With great transport links, Wetheral has a quaint village green and is overlooked by a restaurant, pub, village shop and tearooms, along with the Crown Hotel. A short steep walk takes you past the church and remains of the abbey to the River Eden. Further along the river you can view a wonderful waterfall from Corby Castle, and woodland walks lead to the remains of the caves used in the 14th century.
