La Maison d'Odelou - Three Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 6
Ground Floor: Open plan kitchen/dining room (oven, microwave, dishwasher) with doors to both enclosed courtyard and dining terrace.. Archway through to living room (TV) with door to side garden. Cloakroom (WC). Double bedroom. Bathroom (separate shower, washing machine). Double bedroom (an additional bed can be requested if a twin is required). Double bedroom. WiFi. Outside: Enclosed courtyard. Dining terrace with vine covered pergola, with gate to pool area and gate to stone steps leading to the open terraced grounds surrounding the house. Barbecue. Private parking. Private gated swimming pool (7m x 3.5m) with sunbathing terrace.
Nestled on the hillside in a tiny hameau, La Maison d’Odelou is surrounded by a rural landscape of vineyards, woodlands and fields, yet is surprisingly close to a lovely selection of pretty bastide towns, riverside villages and the meandering majestic River Lot. Even closer (a 10 minute drive) are the bistros, boutiques and lakeside beach of Montcuq, a vibrant bastide town with a Sunday morning market, 8km due south.
Bordering the River Lot, the villages of Albas, Puy l’Eveque and Luzech (all within a 20 minute drive) are starting points for walks with stunning views as well as boat trips, canoeing and swimming. Continue along the river to Cahors, a town steeped in history where you will discover medieval streets, secret gardens and restaurants and cafes serving the excellent wines of the area.
Local food and wine can be enjoyed alfresco in the charming courtyard terraces at La Maison d’Odelou. The covered terrace leads onto both the open grounds and garden, and to the pool area which enjoys views across the woodlands. The interior is as delightful, with stone walls and travertine flooring forming a warm hued backdrop to the spacious rooms. Colour comes from the vibrant wallpaper in the living room, a red painted wall in the kitchen and the stunning handpainted (by the owner) murals in the bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own individual design - the aeroplanes from bygone times are in homage to the owner’s grandfather, who flew with the famous French writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
An additional bed can be provided in one of the double bedrooms if twin beds are required.
Please note: A local tourist tax of £1.20 per person per night is payable for each party member aged 18 or over. We will add this amount to your booking.
Pets - allowed
