Our family lives in Island Park year round and we love it. The area offers so many activities and sights. We spend as much time as we can hiking, biking, and canoeing to amazing fishing locations and sights few people will ever see. In Yellowstone National Park, I was fishing in the Maddison River (standing right in the middle) when 35- 40 Buffalo appeared on the edge of the river and started crossing down stream from me. Admittedly, I was a bit nervous, but my family was on shore letting me know the direction the Buffalo were going so I could move to a safe location. In Yellowstone we have seen Grizzly, Majestic Bull Elk, Wolf, Fox, Moose, and caught a huge Cutthroat Trout (photo included) on Yellowstone Lake near Grant's village. We also snowmobile and motorcycle, which allows us to see even more of the wonderful area. It is surprising the amount of wildlife in the area during all seasons of the year. Last year my son and I were snowmobiling across mountain peaks overlooking Henry's lake when a moose and her calf crossed the same peak. We stopped our machines to watch and give these animals some space. We were amazed at the ease these magnificent animals moved through four feet deep snow. We had this same experience with a herd of Elk. Last week I came across a weasel in its beautiful white winter coat, with just a little black tipped tail, which helped me keep track of it. The weasel seemed to be asking me to pause from the days activities and just watch it play in the snow, which I did. Two years ago while fishing in a canoe at dusk, my family, watched as some swans landed close to us. The orange and red setting sun made there wings and the water glow as they circled and landed, it was the kind of sight that stirs the emotions and reminds us there is a Supreme Creator that has a love for beauty. Let us help you capture the beauty of this amazing place while you vacation here.
