Casa Nuuk in Bokané: ecotourism center among mangroves, estuary and sea in Chiapas
Bokané is a unique place located between a mangrove-filled estuary—formed by a nearby sea inlet—and the ocean. It feels like being on an island, even though geographically it isn’t one (hence its name, Isla San Marcos). It is an unspoiled place, uninhabited until just a few decades ago, where we have developed a sustainable concept on one hectare featuring bamboo structures to enjoy on the beach, such as the bamboo deck with a terrace facing the ocean, as well as a pier and eco-friendly cabins built with local materials and nestled among almond trees, towering palm trees, ceiba trees, cashew trees, neem trees, lemon trees, mango trees, and more. We have taken great care to create comfortable spaces in this setting where you can enjoy nature while having access to all amenities. Our Casa Nuuk (meaning “Big House” in Maya), with thatched roofs and over 150 m² of floor space, features: 3 bedrooms, 4 double beds, indoor and outdoor living and dining areas, a full bathroom with a “Nordic shell”-style shower, two covered porches, and a fully equipped covered outdoor kitchen with a very large grill that makes group gatherings especially enjoyable for cooking enthusiasts, while also providing substantial savings on restaurant expenses for the families and groups who visit us.
