We spent a very enjoyable week here over the Christmas holiday. The vaulted living room and open kitchen/living area are great for hanging out, and the shuffleboard table is great fun for adults and kids. We like to cook, and the kitchen is reasonably well appointed. The property was clean, and the location is very convenient for Northstar, and north Lake Tahoe (Tahoe Vista, King's Beach etc.). There's a pleasant if undramatic view of the trees around you, but no view of the lake like properties at the top of the hill in the same neighborhood. The overall feel is cosy if a bit dated (e.g. huge DVD collection of old movies, which we did use/enjoy). Some parts of the house are quirky or confusing, with almost but not quite helpful instructions. The internet equipment is connected to a wall socket controlled by a light switch that is easy for a child to turn off (despite the plastic cover screwed over it). The instruction manual tells you the internet may need to be restarted, but not where in the house the equipment is, nor does it mention the light switch situation. Instructions for the pellet stove are very detailed but ultimately unfathomable - they reference a thermostat I never did find, I only got it to work once. In the winter when we stayed, cosy can tip over into gloomy - there's little/no overhead lighting, and the lamp lighting in both the bedrooms and living area is soft (and the switches, of course, hard to find!).We'd recommend this place overall if you are happy to live with its little quirks.
