Chocolate Box Thatched Cottage - walking distance to the beach
Imagine you have stepped back in time by staying at this 18th century thatched former post office, complete with working post box.
You could easily have a relaxing and cosy break, whiling away the hours in the peace and calm of the cottage, hearing the occasional clip clop of horses out for walks on the street. Or you can be on a quiet beach, on foot from the house, in 20 minutes. You will be in the heart of the Jurassic Coastline - go fossil hunting for yourself at a variety of beaches. See the stunning Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, either from the beach or on a boat trip. Head down to Bowleaze Cove or Weymouth for a myriad of water sports. End your day at one of the two pubs within walking distance, with a delicious local beer, or enjoy a cream tea at the dairy and farm shop in the village.
The cottage itself is really spacious, with more than enough space for 8 to fit comfortably. There are two large living rooms in addition to a large kitchen dining room. In the Summer the patio is the place to be, with steps onto just off the kitchen and the master bedroom, it makes it so easy to enjoy the inside/outside living. It's a delight to step out onto the comfy garden furniture with a coffee first thing to get your day started well. There's a summerhouse building at the bottom of the garden holding a large range of garden games and the seating in front of it is 'the sundowner spot' getting the last of the late evening sunshine.
When it's time to rest you'll all have a very comfortable night sleep. All mattresses are high quality, super comfortable complete with 100% cotton bedding, 4 pillows per King bed. The ground floor has the master bedroom, best for those with mobility issues (not step free to the bedroom one small lip), complete with ensuite shower room. Upstairs there are two comfortable King size bedrooms, a bunk bed room (with adult single sized bunk beds) meaning two adults would fit comfortably in this room. Additionally, there is a cot in the bunk bed room. There is also a family bathroom with bath. All upstairs rooms are under the thatch, giving an authentic chocolate box country cottage feel.
I am always on hand to provide recommendations for activities, restaurants, caterers, anything you might need during your stay. I want you to have the best holiday.
The pull to the coastal walks and the beach is big but you also have some fun towns on your doorstep to explore. Weymouth has a charming harbour, with excellent dining and cafe options. It also hosts all your typical seaside attractions - several arcades, iconic ice cream parlours, an award winning sandy beach, excellent fish and chip shops and even escape rooms.
You will be spoilt for choice for how to fill your days, and there are no bad options. To the South is the stunning village beach, St Osmund's Bay, which is always quiet, even in the height of Summer, as it can only be accessed by foot. Ringstead Bay, Lulworth Cove and Durdle door can be accessed by car and are all exceptional beaches. Ringstead beach can be reached in 4 minutes. A perfect day is to hop on the open top bus to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. To the North you have charming towns such as Sherbourne, Dorchester or Shaftesbury to explore. To the East you have the Enid Blyton inspiring Studland Bay and Isle of Purbeck. To the West you have the charming town of Abbotsbury, the stunning West Bay, where Broadchurch was filmed and Bridport, a really vibrant antiques town.
