Just two miles from Cartmel, one of the loveliest places in the Lake District, is the small Lakeland community of Cark in Cartmel. With two excellent traditional old pubs, great walks to the nearby beach overlooking Morecambe Bay, a selection of small stores, and good access to the Furness line train, Cark offers a lot to its visitors. From here, it takes only a short trip to reach Holker Hall, the magnificent residence of Lord Cavendish, where you may visit the public-accessible mansion, gardens, and deer park in addition to the licenced brasserie The Ilex.
