Can Clavetaires

I’m originally from the United States and now live in Catalonia, where I work in design, renovation and restoring historic spaces through my studio, BrightHouse Studio.

Can Clavetaires was a long-term restoration project that focused on preserving the character and history of the building while making it comfortable for modern living. I especially enjoy creating spaces that feel warm, personal and full of interesting details rather than generic holiday rentals.

I love old houses, vintage objects, local history and helping guests discover quieter parts of Catalonia beyond the usual tourist destinations.

What I love most about Campdevànol and the Ripollès region is the balance between mountains, history and everyday village life.

The area offers easy access to hiking, cycling, skiing and nature while still feeling authentic and lived-in year-round. It’s a wonderful base for exploring the Catalan Pyrenees, nearby villages and places like Vall de Núria, while also slowing down and enjoying a quieter pace of life.

Campdevànol itself is very walkable, with bakeries, cafés, restaurants and the train station all close to the house.

Can Clavetaires is not a typical holiday rental. Originally built in the 1800s as a village shop-house, the building has been carefully restored over several years while preserving many of its original architectural elements and historic character.

What makes the house especially unique is the way it unfolds through multiple interconnected levels and unexpected spaces beyond the main living areas. Alongside the bedrooms and common spaces, guests will discover tucked-away corners, historic details, a game room, original storage spaces and layers of the house that reflect its long history.

The result is a home that feels atmospheric, comfortable and designed for exploration rather than a standard modern rental.
