One of a complex of similar properties on a working farm, this barn conversion makes a relaxing rural getaway for one or two couples, a group of friends or a family – and it’s dog-friendly too. Less than a mile away, Barrow is home to a village shop and two pubs which serve high-quality food, making it easy to dine out and stroll home if you don’t feel like cooking. Beautiful countryside surrounds the farm, perfect for walking or cycling, and you may want to head to Lackford Lakes Nature Reserve (6.5 miles), or the unique landscapes of Nowton Park (9.5 miles), which include two arboretums, a maze and a stunning lime avenue. If you can’t resist a bit of retail therapy, or simply want to discover Suffolk’s historic gem and foodie capital, Bury St Edmunds is just 6.5 miles away. Newmarket is 9 miles away, and Cambridge is 24 miles away.
A thoughtful conversion, completed in 2026, has given this stunning holiday escape a delightful combination of striking, original features and modern comforts. It’s set on a single level and has plenty of space throughout, with natural light pouring through large windows. The open-plan living space has an apex ceiling with exposed beams, and includes a cosy lounge area with comfortable seating gathered around a Smart TV – ideal for streaming your favourite shows as you snuggle on the sofa. The kitchen has everything necessary for easy food prep, from hearty breakfasts to sociable suppers, plus a dishwasher to help with the cleaning up. There’s also a coffee machine for that essential start to the day. With pale walls and soft, neutral carpets, the two bedrooms offer a serene atmosphere in which to enjoy a good night’s sleep. They share a generous bathroom that includes both a bath and a separate, walk-in shower.
At the front of the cottage is a gravelled courtyard area, with dining furniture ready for fresh-air drinks or meals in the sunshine. Making arrivals and departures easy, private parking is also available for two cars.
