Nestled in the heart of the Charente, with easy access to swimming lakes.
La Grange Charentaise is in the heart of the Charente countryside, with easy access to local towns, villages, swimming lakes and many tourist activities. The house sits between Angouleme and Limoges, one hour from Cognac and two hours from the coast.
While the property is in the spacious grounds of the owner’s holiday home, the owners rarely stay when guests have booked this property, so you will have privacy and the garden space all to yourselves.
In this three-bedroom, modern barn conversion, you will find comfortable corners to relax, space to play and a calmness close to nature. A great cycling area, La Grange Charentaise is close to many beautiful villages and bustling towns.
Within a small hamlet on a country lane, La Grange Charentaise is five minutes from the local village with day-to-day amenities and a fifteen-minute drive from the bustling town of La Rochefoucauld with its 14th century renaissance-style chateau, modern day amenities, and the best chocolate shop in the area!
Thirty-five minutes’ drive west is Angouleme, the largest town in the Charente department and the international capital of comic books. The town is host to the annual Circuit du Ramparts and is a Ville d'Art et d'Histoire (Town of Art and History). Thanks to its position perched high on a rock, the city is nicknamed the “balcony of the southwest”. The city’s railway station offers easy access to Bordeaux (30 minutes by train, via the high-speed TGV) and Paris (under three hours).
Drive twenty minutes east of La Grange Charentaise and you will find the Lacs Du Haute Charente, a stunning duo of lakes ready for fun, sailing, swimming, fishing, horse-riding, sunbathing, cycling and kayaking - or just sipping something cool on the terrace of one of the various bars and restaurants dotted around the edges. A safe place for swimming is at Beach 16. Hiking is also a favourite pastime of visitors in this area.
