We rented a 3 story property on the beach for 6 bridesmaids and our daughter to stay in the night before and after the wedding. Two days before the stay, I was contacted by the “property manager”- who, after doing a photo review, is actually the owner. She told me that the penthouse floor- which had fantastic views and we we’re counting on for both photos and accommodations- was “damaged from a recent storm”. We live 20 minutes away, there was no storm. When the girls arrived on that Friday afternoon, they noticed that not only was the Penthouse occupied, but there was clearly a party going on there. My daughter has many pictures of people coming and going.
The next morning, the owner/property manager texted me to say that she was staying in the Penthouse and that all cars in the driveway needed to be moved to street so as not to block her Audi . At that point I walked up the back outside steps and knocked on the penthouse sliding doors. When she finally appeared, she pretended not to be able to be able to hear me through tge glass, then told me that she couldn’t open the doors because she had COVID. Not only had she hosted a party the night before, but the entire penthouse is glass, and there was absolutely no damage to be seen. I went back downstairs and texted her that- as she had COVID- she didn’t need access to her Audi and therefore there was no reason for everyone to move their cars, particularly as we had paid for the entire property.
Incidentally, the neighbors told us that this is a regular occurrence. If it’s a nice weekend- which it was, particularly for October- she books parties at the penthouse.
And no, we were never reimbursed for only having essentially 1/3 of the property and no parking
