This was an exceptional place for our 3-generation group of 6 adults + 2 teens to spend a few days together. Everyone had their own space, but the big common area and decks were perfect for gathering and meals. The house is super clean, well cared for, and tastefully decorated (nothing kitschy). We saw deer grazing in the backyard, and a hummingbird who visited several times. The big deck was perfect for watching paragliders at the top of Mt. Ascutney in the afternoons.
It's obvious the owners are people who appreciate good food based on the kitchen utensils and appliances, including the MoccaMaster Technivorm coffee maker(!).
We did outings to the Vermont Country store and Quechee Village. Unfortunately, we could only see the Gorge from the bridge due to recent flooding, but the Antique Mall and toy museum just up the street is a treasure trove of nostalgia, collectibles and local Vermont specialties.
Two small suggestions... Might be worth getting some inexpensive wine glasses for guests, since it was strange to drink good wine from juice glasses. And also, although the listing mentions that "Extra-person charges may apply and vary depending on property policy" we were surprised that there was a $450 fee (6 "extra" people?) included for our stay. Maybe because it was a stay of only three nights? The total price is not unreasonable, just maybe make it clearer what determines the extra person charge.
Overall, a beautiful place and a 5-star rental!
