When I first saw "Windy Way" as the title and the lovely photos, I was convinced this was going to be a great place to stay. Unfortunately it was anything but, the bedroom was tucked in the center which limited the "Windy Way" airflow, making it hot and stagnant at night. In the room there was an a/c unit that didn't work, and a floor fan that also did not work (there was definitely power to the outlets tested). The bed itself was harder than cardboard, which meant any discomfort you previously had was exacerbated. We tried to sleep on the futon but that wasn't any better and it was still so hot. The fact that we couldn't sleep the 2 nights (we booked for 9 nights) should mean something.
As this was our wedding ceremony/honeymoon we kindly let the owner know that we could not stay at the location, and while I kept my optimism for the beginning part of the trip, that was lost when I tried to negotiate a refund. Out of the 9 nights, we could uncomfortable stay for only 2 of those nights, and the owner saw fit to only refund 4 nights at 50%, which told me enough about the location and how it is run.
I honestly cannot recommend this place, between the heat, the broken appliances, the uncomfortable bed, and the almost insulting refund attempt, I think I've had my fill of the East End of St John
