Great home. The beach was pretty rocky and unfortunately that part of the ocean was mostly waves and seaweed when we were there in late September.Unfortunately, there was no water when we got there and we had to move to a different house for a night. That was very inconvenient. But, Whitni, the property manager was communicative and helped out the best she could given the circumstances.The home is at the east end of the island. It was a very nice home and wonderfully private. But if we went to st john again we would probably get something a little less far from things.St john itself is beautiful, but also lacks many easy resources if things go wrong.

We had a wonderful stay! The home is peaceful and secluded—exactly what we were looking for. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the porch, accompanied by our friendly gecko visitor, and watching goats wander along the hillside.

Beautiful solitude

Stony Bay beach cottage is a small gem tucked away in remote beauty. The house is built to withstand the worst of mother natures fury, yet quaint and cozy for endless relaxation. Of the two weeks we were there, two full days were dedicated to exploring the beach and enjoying the many moods of the bay and its wildlife. Truly a wonderful and secluded home that you will not want to leave. Whitni, the property manager was very attentive and helpful with all aspects of our stay. I want to thank Bob, the owner, for sharing his vacation home and creating such a lovely cottage amidst the raw beauty of Privateer Bay. I'd like to say otherwise to keep this place all to myself but, that wouldn't be fair to Bob. We will absolutely be back!!!

10 year anniversary trip

Absolutely loved this property! The pictures don’t do it justice! Even though it’s a drive to get there it’s well worth it! Whitni was very attentive and a pleasure to work with. We will definitely be back!

Back to Paradise!

We have stayed at this property several times and it never disappoints! Incredible views from the porch and beach! Snorkeling is excellent on calm days. The driveway is a challenge but also fun in a 4wheel drive jeep. We will definitely be back

5 stars all the way around

Truly an amazing property. We very much appreciate staying here. The view and location are unbelievable. Spending time on the deck is wonderful. They had family games and DVD's etc for evenings after the sun goes down. And there's a wonderful snorkel beach 6min away (Hansen beach). Enjoy!

Amazing site

What a spectacular location. We have stayed in some pretty amazing places before, Hawaii, Tulum, St. Croix, etc. but this one tops them all. You do have to work for it, the drive in is precarious but beautiful as well but once you arrive it’s an unbeatable opportunity to relax and enjoy.

Beautiful home ona private beach

We had a great stay at this property. It has everything needed for a week of snorkeling, hiking, and general relaxation. The only drawback is the black Diamond driveway. Smaller 4 wheel drive is needed. The rental co gave us a large tab 4 which got us up and down but not easily.

4-wheel drive is a must have

My husband and I are up for adventure in our travels. We prefer to be surrounded by the natural beauty of a place. This house deliveres on all measures. Very steep driveway.

Paradise

House and location were perfect. Everything you could need was at the house. The house only has ac in the bedroom as stated but this is not a problem because the porch was a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the breeze off the water. Bed was very comfortable. Snorkel gear including fins and a cooler are provided. Owner and house manager were qucik to respond when contacted. Definitely get a 2 door jeep as suggested. The driveway was a little scary the 1st time down but after that it was no problem. The only neighbors we saw were the daily visits by the goat herd and the iguana.
