My house and your rental party were not a good fit. Shortly after you booked my house, you wrote me that you were convinced my listing stated I provided queen beds, and when I wrote back that my listing never included queen beds, you responded, “it was there when I booked it,” as if VRBO or I had changed the content of my listing after you booked. Then shortly after arriving at my house, your rental party locked yourselves out, and I figured out, over the phone, how you could break into my house to avoid you paying for a locksmith. Then, you called to complain about many things and to let me know my new living room floor lamp somehow snapped in half at the base? I didn’t charge you for it. It was during that phone call I learned you had 7 people staying in my house. My listing states that my house “sleeps 4.” You had inputted that you would be renting with 4 adults when you requested a booking, and when I asked you who would be renting, you wrote, “we are all in our mid 30’s and yes it will be me, my husband, my best friend and her husband,” so I understood, when I agreed to your booking that there would be 4 adults renting. Also, the description of my house states, “perfect for a couple or a small family.” 7 people (two families) cannot comfortably fit in my house, which might be why the sleeping arrangements didn’t work for you. No one before you or since your stay (on VRBO) has complained about the beds. Right after you checked out, I hosted 4 people from another popular rental site, and their review stated, “Nice clean space with comfortable beds on a quiet street.” However, since your review, I have replaced the bed you found uncomfortable with a new queen size bed and mattress. The list I provided for you is not “a super long list of personal host rules.” It is a list for guests to familiarize them with the workings of my house: how to get the keys, find flashlights, access WIFI, etc - as well as a few polite requests. I provide linens for guests who are unable to provide their own, however, most renters at The Shore bring their own. Had you asked, I would have been happy to provide information about local sites. I do leave menus, in the kitchen, for all the good local restaurants. I do not provide “welcome snacks.” Finally, you mistakenly took two things from my house, including a remote, which you ended up mailing back to me, but this inconvenienced my next renter. I appreciate that you acknowledged that my house was very clean and is in a great location.
