My family has lived in the area for 100 years, continually active in horses and Virginia history. I am a UVA alumna, play polo in the area, and other than living in San Francisco for 5 years in the early '80s, I am a Virginian through and through. There's work too - I am co-owner of a communications company, Flying Colors Broadcasts, in nearby Washington, DC.
The Mill House spoke to me in 2008 when I saw that it was for sale - there was just something about it, it seemed magical and as if it had a story to tell. My plate full, it did not happen, but I didn't stop thinking about it. And in 2012, it was on the market again and this time it stood up and shouted, so we bought it and brought it back to health. We had to pull up old floor boards (carefully so we could reuse), replace joists, put on a new porch, build walks and a terrace, replace appliances, expose interior stone walls - and yes, fix the magical pool.
It now is available for others to experience the Mill House magic.
