We were very excited to find this yurt rental in the Finger Lakes last March and made the reservation right away. Unfortunately when we arrived in July, we found that the pictures were not entirely accurate.
The entire property is in rather old condition; the yurt itself was a large disappointment as the crown was broken, so it could not be opened for air circulation as well as several windows. During the day it was super hot, even though the host had an air conditioner running. At night we almost froze, again because there was no air circulation.
The sink inside the yurt only provided cold water, as well as the sink in the shared bathroom for the entire campground. This bathroom was in such bad condition that we never attempted to take showers, although there was some hot water in the shower. Between the smell of mold/mildew and the large spiders everywhere, we went to the state park nearby to take showers. Yes, the state park campground bathroom was a huge improvement!
After 2 days of this "glam camping", the owner allowed us to move to a houseboat that was vacated. This was significantly better, mostly because we had our own shower, hot water and many windows and central air. We did have to pay an additional fee for this better accommodation, but it was worth it in our opinion.
If you are used to tent camping, this yurt may be exceptable to you. My companion has stayed in several yurts before and this was not the experience that we had expected unfortunately. The hosts are nice people, but the property as a whole is struggling.
