The house is in a great location within walking distance to town (up a few big hills on the way back to the house), and also walking distance to PCMR. The layout is great although the living area is dark with only a few windows and a very small balcony. There has been some updating to the house over time but the photos online are deceiving with how clean and spacious the house is.
We had a couple of issues as the kitchen was not stocked with some essentials we expected to be there such as enough wine glasses, a cutting board, and salt and pepper shakers. The property manager did help us out with that, and quickly provided a few of the essentials. I would recommend double checking what all is to be stocked so you know what to take or buy. It would have also been helpful to have a property manual with instructions written down on how to use the hot tub, TV, etc.
The property appeared possibly to not have been rented for a while as there were burned out lights some spider webs in common areas and a layer of dust/dirt in general areas you’d expect to be clean (especially ceiling fans). We were told the property was treated for insects, but there was an infestation of lady bugs on the ceiling of the master bedroom, making that room unusable. The manager did use some all natural pesticide spray when we were out. However, it left the bugs dead on the floor and on the bed, which was still a challenge. It also was sprayed so much we had to open the windows to air it out.
Overall the property has good potential as long as it undergoes a good deep cleaning, improved pest control, and a restock of kitchen essentials. They did work with us to provide a partial refund so they definitely had good will to make it right. Very appreciative of that, and that they were pleasant as we worked through the concerns. Based on the photos, the reviews, and past rentals we have stayed in, we had higher expectations. That happens sometimes. Next time we will do more due diligence.
