Makena Surf is the Best

We had an amazing stay. The condo is just as advertised, with an amazing view and a wonderful kitchen. We love the Makena area and Makena Surf. You are far enough away from the busy hotels to be able to feel secluded, but you are close enough to enjoy a great meal or visit to the bar at one of them.

Favorite location

This is our family's 4th visit to Makena Surf and our first in building B which we loved as its the closest to the beach. As usual, the view and area cannot be beat. The unit itself was clean, comfortable and was super easy to access. No one will regret booking here!

Can't beat the Makena Surf!

Second time in 2023 staying at the Makena Surf. Great location on the beach and "Turtle Point" plus close to Wailea and Kihei restaurants and shopping. EV charger was a plus for our Telsa rental car charging. We are planning on a return trim in July!

Amazing Makena Surf Condo

My family and I had an amazing week at this terrific beach front condo. Everything worked perfectly. Magical views off the lanai - we saw dolphins and whales on the same day. Would highly recommend this condo. Snorkelling right off the beach, can see ++ turtles and fish, even a spotted eagle ray. Worth the money!!

Beautiful Makena Surf

The property was beautiful, very quiet and well kept. We stayed in unit B305. Excellent view.Fairly well stocked. Communication with property manager was good. Unit was fairly clean, carpets in bedroom could be cleaned. We would recommend and stay again. Dishwasher doesn’t heat dry, I saw that in a prior review.

Location of unit can’t be beat. The kitchen and living room are updated (except for carpet), however bedrooms are outdated and need some TLC. We were disappointed that many other units had boogie boards and beach umbrellas available for use while we only had beach chairs. An umbrella on lanai was also needed at table.

Great place and responsive management. Two minor problems. Dishwasher ran but didnt clean. Soap still sitting where you squirt it. AC doesnt turn on when you want. Was told it waits til door sensors are “calibrated ” or something. Eventually starts when it is ready. Not really a helpful feature. No complaints otherwise. Great place would stay again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This place is even better than the pictures. It had a great layout for a family of four, with a bathroom for each bedroom. The balcony and views were amazing...great sun in the afternoon and great sunset. We really appreciated having all the beach supplies right there, from towels to chairs to body boards for the kids. The only real drawbacks were a temperamental air conditioner and a lack of an oven in the kitchen. Otherwise, very highly recommended.

Awesome location

The only reason we are not giving 5 stars is due to the poor condition of the king master bed. There was 4" of foam under the sheets covering a very old mattress with a manufacturer's date of 1995. Not acceptable for a luxury beachfront condo. Also horrible nights sleep. The other beds were fine and the condo offered all other amenities for a beach condo.

Great view

Great view, but could not enjoy or go onto lanai after 3pm as there is no sun umbrellas or shades outside. Air conditioning was spotty. Construction happening next door without notification. Lanai was filthy, feet turned black from being on the deck/lanai. No one answered phone at management office, but would try and text back. Poor service.

And it’s a few minutes from big beach for bigger waves. It’s a 15 minute drive to restaurants and take out places in Kehei (where most are). The unit had a couple of issues probably because it sat empty for a good while due to Covid, but the management company was on the ball and dealt with them quickly and efficiently. As you can see by the photos, it looks down on the beach with great views of the beach and nearby islands. There’s some decent snorkeling off to the left of the beach as well. Overall, an A grade place.

Perfect location but needs some updates

This is our second time staying at Makena Surf. We love the location of this property and we loved being in building B. The unit itself was fully stocked and right on the water. It has a gorgeous view! The communication with management was super smooth and we had no issues with check-in. There were a couple issues with cleanliness that would give me pause before staying here again. The master bedroom smelled very damp/musty and could use some inspection. The master bathroom had small ant-like bugs on the vanity and the unit likely needs to be sprayed for bugs. Lastly, the washer needs to be replaced or inspected and deep cleaned! It was moldy on the inside and made all of our clothes smell damp and sour.

We appreciate when guest let us know of any concerns that they happen upon in the condo. While we do a thorough walk through of each condo prior to guest arrival, some things just won't be caught without staying in the condo for at least a few hours. We do spray for pest control quarterly. We have arranged for the vendor to come out and treat again and pay extra attention to the bathroom. After your mention of the musty smell, we noted that the washer could use a new rubber gasket and this is probably the culprit for that smell. We have ordered the part and will get it wrapped up ASAP. We hope you will give us another try on your next visit and please know that you can call our team at any time during your stay to voice your concerns.
