A message from the owners - Having lived on Mount Desert Island most of our lives, we can say that it is sometimes easy to take for granted all that we have here. But when we begin to describe all that the Island has to offer a visitor we remember just how lucky we are to live here. The mountains, the sea, the woods, lakes, and the people make this one of the most unique and enjoyable places we have ever known. We hope you will take full advantage of what Mount Desert Island has to offer your visit.

We chose this part of Mount Desert Island because it offers the best of both worlds: the peaceful feeling of being tucked into the woods, with easy access to the places that make a visit to MDI special.

Glenwood Pond Cottage sits on a quiet private road surrounded by pine forest, so it feels removed from the crowds and bustle of Bar Harbor. At the same time, its central location makes it easy to explore the island. Acadia National Park is just 4.7 miles away, and Bar Harbor is about 6 miles away, with Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and other favorite island destinations all within easy reach.

We also love being close to Frenchman's Pond. It's just a short walk from the cottage and offers a peaceful glimpse into the natural side of Mount Desert Island. Depending on the season, you may see deer, songbirds, turtles, frogs, Canadian geese, or the resident beaver.

For us, this location captures what makes staying on MDI so special. You can spend the day hiking Acadia's trails, exploring the coast, or enjoying Bar Harbor, then come home to the quiet of the woods. It's close to the adventure, but far enough away to slow down and enjoy the peaceful side of Maine.

Frenchman's Pond is just a short walk away, where you may spot deer, turtles, songbirds, frogs, Canadian geese, and the resident beaver. And because the cottage is centrally located on MDI, you can easily explore Acadia, Bar Harbor, and the island's coastal villages before returning to the quiet of the woods.
