Far from the crowds, but convenient to everything you want to do in Maine - Acadia, Bar Harbor, and more! Relax and enjoy the serenity and abundant wildlife of 1.6 wooded acres on beautiful Taunton Bay, including eagles, seals, loons, herons, osprey, and deer, or take a scenic 45-minute drive to Mount Desert Island to visit Acadia, Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor, all with their distinct identities and attractions. The cottage is conveniently located in Sullivan, between Acadia National Park's main location on MDI and its exquisite, less-traveled mainland site, Schoodic Point, and just ten miles from the popular cafes, brewpubs and shops of charming downtown Ellsworth. Historic Sullivan offers quiet local hikes, easy access to gorgeous Tidal Falls Preserve in nearby Hancock, and a trail of unique artisan workshops, including sculptors, potters, weavers, and painters, as well as delicious local eateries.

The cottage is newly renovated, with a fully equipped kitchen complete with coffeemaker and local coffee, an open living and dining area with lovely forest and water views, and comfortable brand new mattresses in the two bedrooms. Watch the sunset over the bay from your lovely bluestone patio or screened gazebo, or take a short walk through a wooded path to see stunning, expansive views of Burying Island on your own private point. At night, read a book, play a game, or watch a movie, then fall asleep to the breeze in the pines and aspens, and the calls of owls and loons!

Whether you are in the mood to kick back, relax and enjoy nature, take in the iconic sites and outdoor experiences of Acadia, or explore local dining, nightlife and shops, this is the place for your Downeast Maine getaway.

Absolutely wonderful time

Traveled with my mom and stayed here for a week while we explored the state. Beautiful, secluded cabin that was fully stocked with everything we needed. Clean home with beautiful views. Exceptional time, will absolutely book again if we’re in the area.

Relaxing the second you get there. The owner's instructions were clear and helpful. The sunset is indeed incredible. Kids loved the books and games provided. I wish we could stay longer. Clever location to go to Acadia NP, either Mount Desert Island or Schoodic Peninsula.

Excellent secluded getaway

This rental is an excellent place to stay and the description in the listing is very accurate. The views from the property overlooking the bay are beautiful. The house was immaculate and recently renovated. The owner is very responsive and helpful. I would definitely want to stay here again if we come back to the area.

First trip to Maine

We stayed 3 nights and watched the sunset from the chairs at the water’s edge. Saw deer and a red fox just after sunrise on a couple of mornings. A quiet get-away with a million dollar view. Communication, check-in and check-out was great.

Peaceful, cozy retreat

My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! Absolutely adorable place. Completely private location. The house itself was immaculately clean and newly renovated with a pretty interior with comfortable, sturdy furniture. The host was so nice and very responsive. Next time we are in Maine, this will be our first choice rental.

Beautiful rental with amazing location

This rental surpassed my expectations - pristine, modern, cozy interior that was comfortable and immaculately clean. Even more notable, the piece of land that extends out to the bay is really beautiful. Several nice benches and chairs for watching the ocean, plus a picnic table and an outdoor terrace. I had a great time watching the ocean, birds, and clouds. Gazebo also great. A quiet and uniquely beautiful property, really enjoyed it!

Great place to stay

The place was as described. It was quiet, private and very nice. Equipped with everything needed, it was a great place to explore Acadia National Park and the Downeast coast. We were very very lucky and saw the aurora overlooking the lake. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to the area

Cottage on the water

Beautiful cottage in a very private setting. The unit was extremely clean and bright. Sitting right on the water with benches arranged to view the wonderful sunsets. Fire pit available and lovely patio. We really enjoyed our time there and would highly recommend. Hope to book again,

My husband, my daughter and I could not stop smiling when we first arrived as we found the cottage super-clean and updated. Every square in of the cottage has been updated beautifully — all new appliances, counters, cabinets, shower, toilet and vanity. The decor is so pretty and there are so many thoughtful touches — flashlights, bug spray, sunscreen, umbrella, games, books, etc. We used the grill twice — it was new as well. It was perfect for our once-in-a-lifetime vacation to Maine!

We all travelled from Canada to admire the fall colors and boy, were we happy we did - so beautiful! The cottage was as promised! It is well appointed - everything we would have needed, including the coffee and creamer! The beds were comfortable and the towels were soft. If you weren’t so far away, we’d be coming more regularly!!

Cozy cottage

We had a lovely time at Julie's place. The house was very clean and super quiet and peaceful. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Julie was very quick to respond to the one question we had. Check in was easy, and Julie had left the lights and heat on for us as we were arriving close to dark. The views from the point are lovely. We had a lot of rain during our stay but still enjoyed going out to sit on the benches overlooking the water. I also really loved the classic books that were in the cottage. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, and would definitely return. Thank you Julie.

Fantastic experience

The cottage was very clean and organized. You can tell that it was recently renovated and it felt modern but maintained the Maine cottage feeling. The cottage was stocked with utensils, cookware, and dishes - just about everything you’d need to cook during your stay. There was even what appeared to be a brand new grill on the patio. Along with that, there were plenty of clean blankets, pillows, etc. The proximity to the water was another huge bonus. After following a short path behind the cottage, you’re taken to a point that looks out toward the bay. The point was fairly private and was a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the morning. The host, Julie, was very responsive to messages. She also left us a very thorough welcome packet that contained information on where things were around the cottage, as well as what stores and activities were in the area. Overall, we had a great time. We would 100% stay again the future.

The perfect get-away

My husband and I did a 3-night stay at the cottage to celebrate our anniversary. It was perfect. The cottage was efficient, clean, and in a beautiful setting. We kayaked off the point in the back yard in the morning and watched the sunset there at night. The house was located halfway between Bar Harbor/Acadia and Schoodic so we were able to hike in both locations. As for the house itself, it had everything we needed - comfy beds and linens, fans, nice non-stick pans, good knives, gas grill, fire pit, gazebo, and a patio with comfortable chairs. Everything seemed new and of good quality. We didn’t have any issues so didn’t need to contact the hostess but the communications we did have were great - she left helpful information of things to do in the area on the table (plus a bar of chocolate and a welcome note). I believe she lives nearby so I’m sure if there had been an issue, she would have been quick to respond. I highly recommend this property and look forward to staying there again myself.
