A granite farmhouse between the sea and the bocage

Dear Angelica I am surprised to read this. Almost all guests until now rated their stay as 10/10. Now, from what I read, I have to agree that the house is somewhat dark, especially that you came in mid september, at the moment when a much desired rain was returning, after several heatwaves. This house is not a modern hotel with large windows, it is a XVIIth year house with very thick granite walls and small apertures. One has to love this kind of stony house, indeed, as well as the isolation and calm, I agree too. The fact that the house is an old stony house with small openings is quite apparent on all photos, there is nothing we can do about it. However all inside photos are perfectly representative of the house and in summer and sunny days it is not as dark as that. Moreover, considering all the catastrophic heatwaves we are having now this architecture becomes even more relevant. About the garden, it just happens that last year a few guests complained that there were "too many trees", so this is why I chopped down trees around the house. It takes for the severed branches to regenerate and give a more charming aspect. Finally, I did my best to replace the photos and put recent ones. Yes most of the photos are from the spring preceding this summer. I can only see maybe 3 photos which are outdated but most if not all photos are very recent. I will improve that by putting even mor recent photos, but I hardly see a matter of complaint in this. I kindly recomment that you chose a more modern house, maybe a hotel with professional gardeners and a park for your vacations.

Cependant même ce côté sauvage demande en fait beaucoup d'entretien. A titre personnel je préfère un jardin un peu libre avec des insectes et des oiseaux plutôt qu'un jardin très soigné et pauvre Én biodiversité

Der Vera thank you for your review I will check what might have happened, it really is the first time I read such things; It seems just impossible to me that this description fits the state of the gîte. We would never leave dirty pans in the cupboard or spidrr webs. Concerning the oven it might be possible that it is time to change it. Now about the garden, it is true that there are recommendations now to not mow the lawns too much and to leave as much as possible a part of the land to insects. Especially, there is a movement not to mow the lawns at all in may, which is the peak period of reproduction. This is why we stopped to mow 1/3 of the terrain recently as a tribute to biodiversity. This is why you might have thought that the garden was not as in the photos. Nevertheless it is exactly the same garden, merely with some freedom left to wildlife, butterflies and bees.
