We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the West Burke Modern Farmhouse. The house has wonderful light and head space, especially in the main living area (kitchen, dining, sitting) – makes one happy to be up and ready for the day. The big deck lets one sit immersed in that beautiful expanse of countryside and sky, and in the company of the lively stream. Private from the road, public to nature. The occasional voices of cows and other farmyard animals are a lovely punctuation to the lighter sounds of trees, breeze, and industrious insects. The glass doors (beautiful in and of themselves) give generous access to the outside from the inside too. Everything was comfortable and very clean, the kitchen extremely well-equipped for a rental space, and the choice of objects and furniture appealing. While we had our own reading along, there were plenty of interesting options at the house if you don’t. The hike up Pisgah offers an especially stunning and serene view from the Western Outlook point, and biking options in the region abound, even beyond the Kingdom Trails.
We had a great time and are grateful to the owners for sharing their home.
