Mike was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho just a few miles west of the Teton Valley and Jackson Hole. Mike's parents were avid outdoors enthusiasts who saw to it that fishing, hiking, skiing, hunting, boating, etc. were an integral part of their childrens' upbringing. The backdrop where most of these activities were pursued was the Teton Country, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone National Park, Teton National Park, Teton Valley, Swan Valley, The Big Hole Mountains.
Mike's dad was integrally involved in the National Ski Patrol for over 40 years holding positions of leadership and training in the Eastern Idaho, Western Wyoming and Southwestern Montana Intermountain Region. As you can imagine, Mike and his siblings became very immersed in the ski culture of the region. It was common place to accompany dad on training trips to Snow King Mountain in Jackson Hole, Jackson Hole Resort as well as many other ski hills and resorts in the tri-state region. Mike still remembers vividly the excitement among the ski enthusiasts of the region leading up to and surrounding the construction and opening of Grand Targhee Mountain Resort in 1969.
This country has been and always will be my home. As Betsy and I have made forays back to the area over the last few years to visit my aging father and other family, and to enjoy the area, we have developed a joint sense of belonging. With every return trip our shared feeling has become more and more part of our sense of destiny. Just this past year we were blessed with the opportunity to establish a toe hold in the Teton Valley . . . .and now, after a lot of planning and hard work, we have a beautiful, cozy, part time home here. We anticipate that we will spend more and more time here, but for the time being, when we are not able to be here, we are excited to share it with our guests through the vacation rental network.
