My family is very fond of the small hamlet of Lakemont NY - home of the Hunt House. It's where my father grew up and grandparents lived. We spent many summer nights catching fireflies, playing in the ponds, and playing basketball in the farmer's barn. Lakemont is an idyllic community nestled on the banks of Seneca Lake with convenient access to so many Finger Lakes gems including the Seneca and Keuka wine trails, Watkins Glen International Speedway, Watkins Glen State Park, great hiking spots, and country roads for biking, running, walking or Sunday drives. There is an exciting new buzz in Lakemont after two great restaurants opened their doors in the past 3 years - FLX Wienery and Tabora Farm & Winery. We're so lucky to have these two establishments which offer amazing food and community gathering space for locals and visitors alike.
The Hunt House specifically caught my eye with its traditional crafstman style architecture, large yard, and spacious rooms with wood floors and wood trim. We bought the house in the summer of 2018 and paid special attention to preserving the character of the 1950s farmhouse. This house has great bones and we knew we just had to give it some love and TLC to bring it back to its glory. The former owners took great care of the house for 50+ years and relished in gardening, birding, farming their sheep and other livestock, and being part of a small, close-knit community.
