This was definitely not the greatest rental. The apartment itself is very nice. However, there are some things a renter should know about the location that aren’t exactly pointed out in the listing. The “parking lot” that was suggested has only 4 spots (plus one disabled spot) that is the lot for a scenic overlook so it was always full. Eventually I had to park in the disabled spot to unload my luggage. From this lot, the apartment is down a VERY, VERY large cobblestone hill, which makes luggage carrying difficult (I do business in the area and have to have large suitcases and it was nearly impossible…). If you have any mobility issues, I would highly recommend a different property. Then, of course, I moved my car to a legal spot… the nearest lot with actual spaces is .7 miles away.
I know people may be thinking this is all normal in a perched village, but I have stayed in nearly every one of them (Menerbes, Goult, Lacoste, others in Bonnieux) and I’ve never had a worse parking situation.
The owner is not helpful at all. You will not see him despite him living right there. The entrance is done by code into the courtyard and key to the room (which is up another two flights of very uneven stone steps). I emailed him several questions and he did respond fairly quickly but never with anything helpful. I talked to the couple renting the room below and they said they had the same experience.
Not a bad place if you are mobile, travel lightly and have no questions.
