While the house was a good size to get our family together and had great views of the river, the experience was diminished by the ant infestation in the kitchen and the overall feeling of neglect.
We found numerous dirty dishes in cabinets and drawers that were feeding the ants. The ants were so out of hand that we had to store food in the fridge, microwave or stove to try to keep our food ant free. Ants were obviously an issue previously because we found dried up ant traps in the closet.
The house was also very dim. Many light bulbs were burned out and the ones that were there were strangely dim, you'd turn on a table lamp they put out just enough light to brighten the lamp shade but not enough to lighten the room. We ended up buying lightbulbs ourselves as there were only decorative bulbs in the house. Of course, when we replaced the bulbs the shades were dirty.
We found 3 folding tables in the closet but 2 of them were broken. The dining room chairs were also in poor condition and very wobbly. One of the table lamps in a bedrooms had a broken switch and couldn't be turned on at all.
Overall our general feeling is that that house needs attention. The kitchen needs a thorough cleaning and organization. The rest of the house also needs a spring cleaning and all furniture should be checked and repaired or replaced as necessary.
