Beautiful ocean view

This property is located on Highway One right on the edge of a cliff. The views are stunning. The house could use some minor upgrades such as a newer dining room table and chairs (chairs felt loose) and kitchen needs some minor updating. Those details aside the stay was awesome and the pros outweigh any cons in our opinion. We would definitely stay here again.

Great property.

The view was incredible, and the outdoor seating complimented it very well. The house is secluded, but there are plenty of things to do within a short drive. We enjoyed Navarro Winery, Hendy Redwood Grove, dinner at Point Arena pier, and visiting local beaches/trails.

Unmatched views!

The view here is stunning. You will never have a better ocean view - the sun sets right in front of you. House is comfortable and well stocked. Highly recommend this place!!

Beautiful secluded ocean cottage with spectacular views. Quiet and private. Well appointed cottage with everything we needed. Perfect for 2-3 people. I would definitely rent again

Cute oceanfront cottage

This was an amazing stay. Can’t beat the views and we’re surprised by all the wildlife we saw. Linens were incredibly comfortable and even with one bathroom and five people it was fine. Kitchen had everything we needed and couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more.

An amazing costal getaway

Can’t begin to describe how incredible the view and the deck is at this location. My boyfriend and I had the most relaxing stay here. It is private, serene, and a 25 minute drive to the town of Mendocino. We hope to make this an annual trip. Could not recommend it enough!

Simply Beautiful!

This is our third visit to this wonderful cottage by the sea. The views cannot be beaten. The cottage is always clean, and well-appointed with a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!!

Love It!

My family and I just wrapped up our very first trip to Mendocino and I am so glad I picked this jewel of a rental for our stay! The view was absolutely stunning! The cleanliness was immaculate and bonus we got to see a family of deer munch their way into the backyard! I highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to the Mendocino area!

Best little getaway

Was just the perfect get away space. Loved the outdoor deck, BBQ and comfy beds. Fully stocked amenities in the kitchen. Great support from property management with their timely information and support after arrival. Will be back.

Pictures Are Deceiving

The house is on Hwy 1 and the street noise can be heard over the ocean. The deck is the main attraction, and the rest of the house needs some work (doors, windows).

What a View

We loved our stay at the Elk Rock Beach Cottage from 6/15/25 to 6/20/25. The views of the ocean were amazing. The weather was perfect! The deck was unbelievable and the chaise lounges were very comfy. We could have spent the whole time on the deck. We observed many birds, including bald eagles, ravens, sparrows, hummingbirds, vultures and other birds. We were also serenaded by the cows across the street. You can also observe harbor seals in the cove. There were approximately 40 seals. Bring your binoculars. The house was clean, the kitchen was spacious and included everything you needed, including washer/dryer. The beds were very comfy and the pillows, linens, towels were top notch. I noticed a previous review that discussed the sound from Highway One. Yes, you are feet from Highway One, but the house is insulated and the windows are dual pane so the sound was negligible. The fireplace was used everyday with no issues. The space heaters worked great as well. Internet access was fine and we had no issues with that. We enjoyed the grounds with many CA Native plants, bees, butterflies, etc. The closest full market is in Ft Bragg. There is the Harvest Market and Safeway. We stocked up before we arrived so need for any shopping. This was a much needed rest from the crazy world and hustle and bustle. We were able to just unwind and relax! Highly recommend the home. Vacasa was great keeping us up to date and providing check in/check out procedures.

Our stay in Elk

We found the house to be quaint and lovely. The amenities were all wonderful, from the fluffy bedding to the well equipped kitchen. The deck is stunning to say the least and it was where we spent much of each day. We have spent years coming over to the towns of Fort Bragg and Mendocino. This home gave us access to new areas to explore like Manchester State beach. Looking forward to returning!

Stunning view!

great place with panoramic ocean view even better than the website. Loved watching the daily rituals and antics of the local harbor seal herd on a spit below the deck. Groceries are very difficult to purchase here, and super expensive, so bring food with you. Know that shops in Elk are closed Tuesdays and in Point Arena closed Wednesdays. We went everywhere on the wrong days!

Stunning Views!!!

We had such an amazing time. Breathtaking views, cozy cottage, and very helpful property management. We came across deer and rabbits hanging out in the backyard every time we would come back from being out. We enjoyed many amazing hikes and incredible restaurants within a 15 mile radius of this rental. We highly recommend it and can’t wait to come back.
