We enjoyed our stay in Aruba. This condo was pretty much what we expected from the pictures. I rented it because it had 3 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. This was perfect, as I brought a good friend with me, as well as my Florda next-door-neighbors who watch my house there, the half of the year when I am at my primary residence. It was a nice condo, but not really what I would consider "luxury," as described in VRBO.
It was a strange week, as flights into Aruba were stopped mid-week, due to the coronavirus scare. We flew home on Saturday, March 21st, and the people thinned out more and more throughout the week, looking like a ghost town on Friday. Saturday were the last flights out. We played hard the first half of the week, then had to improvise the last half, as most places were closed. Aruba didn't have a virus problem, but was proactive when a couple people arriving were found to be positive for the virus at the airport. I applaud Aruba's leadership for protecting the Aruban people.
My only complaint would be the housekeeping. After showering, the bottoms of our feet would be black after walking around barefoot for a while. There was also some type of food smeared on the coffee table, and some of the dishes and silverware had food stuck on them.
This condo is not real close to the high rise zone, but we rented a car so we could eat at restaurants there, as well as going on sight-seeing tours around the island. After most places closed mid week, we found a little hole-in-the-wall called Salt and Pepper, on the south end of the high rise district. It's not fancy, but the food was good and the staff was great. We ate there the latter half of the week.
Overall, we had a great week, and the 3 people I treated to this vacation, all loved it and want to return.
