Could be a 5/5. We gave this a 3/5 only because the cottage needs a spring cleaning. The door windows were green, screens covered with debris. I noticed mildew on the broken blinds and the cords needed a wash. The bathtub surround had a line of mold and the glass shower doors had scale and mildew inside, but especially outside where they slide over each other. The bedroom air conditioners should be cleaned or replaced as the output is stuffy and smelly. And, in a place that has glorious original architecture and thoughtful updates, to block off the air conditioner window spaces with random plastic board and peeling duct tape?After a rough first night: mildewy, stuffy, with pillows that felt like bolsters, we slept well the next nights by forgetting the air conditioner and leaving the front door open to the screen door for air flow (a lock would be nice… ) and putting our pillow cases on the softer sofa throw pillows. The cottage was a welcoming place to return to throughout our days of exploring. I’m a big fan of fine craftsmanship and, wow, this place has it! I couldn’t stop noticing and admiring the details. I didn’t think to bring a bath mat, so used the hand towel I brought as a mat. I don’t bring beach towels either, and should have. The mattresses were extremely comfortable.
