What a lovely way to start our ten day vacation in Europe by spending the first two nights in this most charming 1 BR apartment. Located on the lower level of a huge home, it is charm personified. Exposed stone wall, modern decor, remodeled kitchen and bath. Plenty of space for 1 or 2 people. Alain, the kindest, most thoughtful host, was waiting for us on the sidewalk when our Uber arrived and he took great care of us during our stay. An easy walk to restaurants, to the bus line, this apt. is located in what looks like a very high end residential neighborhood. Lots of lovely homes all around.
The only two disappointments were:
- lack of windows in the BR. Since there is no air conditioning in the unit, there's no way to get fresh air in the bedroom unless you open the huge barn doors in the BR that lead to the driveway. The neighborhood seemed so safe, we did that but not the best way to keep the room cool to sleep. I can imagine in the summer, this would be a real issue. It was just in the 60's when we were there.
- like most beds in Europe, there is no box spring, just a mattress. This mattress could definitely use an upgrade - maybe 5" tall at most? When you walk into the bedroom, it looks like the bed is sitting on the floor - because it is! Our backs hurt us for the next two days after we left Geneva because we slept so poorly.
But, having said that, it's still a very charming, spacious one bedroom apartment. If you're not as picky about temperature and/or your mattress - this is the place for you!
