Right on the tip end of Springer’s Point Nature Preserve, and a stone’s throw from the inlet, this is the perfect getaway for two. Big, comfy bed, nice bathroom, right-sized living room with dining table and kitchen, peace and quiet; it’s all you need. And the screen porch overlooking the marsh and open water is just amazing.
We did a lot of our own cooking in the kitchen. The management does a fantastic job of cleaning out stuff left behind, so don’t expect to find the usual four jars of paprika and thirty-leven other spices - bring your own stuff. The Ocracoke Variety Store (grocery store, singular) is surprisingly well-stocked, but you can’t count on it having everything you want, so think about what you like to have on hand when you cook, and bring it with you. Plan ahead - you can’t expect to run out and grab everything you need. Otherwise, you’ll be set. And this side of the village is a walker’s paradise!
I shouldn’t recommend Treasure Chest so highly, as it will probably make it harder to reserve, but for a lovely and peaceful getaway, you can’t go wrong.
