We really enjoyed our stay at the Ashgrove above-garage apartment! The open design was fine for us; windows across the living area wall gave an airy feel, with nearby trees and a view to a field. The steps to the apartment entrance are somewhat steep, but we had no trouble with them. The bathroom is small, with a small wash sink in the adjoining room, along with a day bed there. It was unusual, but we adapted to it okay. That bed became the platform for our suitcases to lay, for easy access to clothes, etc. The queen bed was very comfy for us, even tho' I'm hard to please, spoiled by our Tempurpedic adjustable. We couldn't really take advantage of free produce Lucy kindly offered from their farm because we ate out almost all the time. Another time, we might plan some meals in, but the seafood is so good in the area, we eat all we can stand while we are there. I am confident we would stay at Ashgrove again in the cooler seasons. (Though most locals tend to think AC is rarely needed, we don't do well without it, so we wait till September, when odds are better that even with too-warm days, the nights will be cool enough to cool the space down with open windows. We had no trouble here on this visit, even though it did get a little warmer than average. Fans are provided, and we did use them some.) We didn't stay around the place that much because we stayed on the go a lot, but we definitely enjoyed sitting on the deck drinking coffee or eating a bite, and we walked down to their private shore a couple times to watch the loons and ducks and enjoy the sounds of the waves lapping the rocks. Considering the very reasonable price of this rental, and the absolutely wonderful hosts in John and Lucy, we are very thankful to have found this rental, and we hope to return again!
