Due to the heavy rains which we had just before your arrival and consequent external humidity, we could not air the house as we usually do before your arrival, so this is the reason of the stale air. Thank you Garry for your review. Yes we always recommend guests to have a car since the property is in the countryside, on the hills, and it is not convenient to walk to the nearest town of Chiavari. There are few restaurants at walking distance but you definitively need a car unless if you want to explore the area, unless you really decide to spend the most of your holidays at the property without moving. The surroundings are quiet and typical of a countryside place, so you may hear some dogs barking time by time and this may be annoying for some. Luckily this is not happening frequently, but it may happen, like you correctly stated. Also, the property is near to the church and in the morning the bells ring, also at some other few times during the day! This is something which may be annoying for someone, while it is instead characteristic and picturesque for some others! We are happy for these constructive reviews, because we have the opportunity to inform and warn the guests about the place in order not to have expectations being unmet. So if you definitively hate church bells ringing, dogs barking sometimes, and you do not like to drive... you may think twice before booking the Mereta! Seriously, we invite all the guests to double check with us in case you have doubts, the most important thing is to make all of you happy, so for any clarification please do not hesitate to ask before making your reservation!

I'm sorry for not giving you the possibility to climb the tower, while the structure made of solid stone blocks is very solid externally (and for sure it will stay there for another 600 years!!!), internally there are steep stairs which are not easy and safe to climb. We have project to renovate the interiors of the tower but this it will take a while. Hope to see you again until then so we can offer to you the outstanding view from the top of the tower!!!
