I have just returned from a fantastic weeks cycling in Abdet (April 2016) staying with Tom. If you enjoy cycling/trail running/walking/climbing, (basically the outdoors), this is a fantastic location to base yourself. The house is located in a typically Spanish village and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, with the bonus of stunning views from the roof terrace down the valley to Guadalest. Nothing better than enjoying a cold beer/glass of wine in the sunshine after a hard days cycling up and down the numerous mountains.
I was fortunate enough to go on a fully guided/catered week focussing on cycling with a mountain run thrown in on our rest day. Tom’s knowledge of the area is second to none which added to the experience and made sure we could always find a café con leche when we needed one! The area in general is superb for cycling, with smooth road surfaces, and refreshingly, the Spanish seem to respect cyclists and give plenty of room when passing. It was also very nice to be able to discard all the winter gear and enjoy cycling in just short sleeved top and shorts in pleasant temperatures. (Gilet required for the descents, as they’re long!!)
Obviously after a day out on the bike good food was important. Tom’s catering was excellent providing a variety of wholesome nutritious , home cooked meals
Overall I had a fantastic week that was made special by the fact that Tom adapted it to suit everyone. Given everything that was included the whole experience represented exceptional value for money and I would not hesitate to book again. Thanks Tom!
