Lovely!

My husband and friends stayed for a quiet, restful New Years! The home is lovely, with a hot tub, a fire pit and a wonderful deck to observe the birds and nature. Ron and Lynn were very helpful to my friend who was determined to smoke a chicken (for the first time) on the Big Green Egg. The short distance to Fort Mountain State Park were we hiked several different trails made our stay even more lovely.

Fantastic mountain views, wonderful hosts

Great Fall getaway with my partner, daughter & her hubby. Gorgeous mountain views from the porch, every room, the hot tub & the blazing fire pit each night! Beautiful home, comfortable beds, nearby hiking & bike trails. Gracious hosts - we will be back to make more precious memories!

Absolute heaven!

What an amazing weekend in an absolutely beautiful home. Pictures do not do this place justice. From the minute you exit your vehicle, you feel like you are home. You will never find a rental as homey, clean or well stocked as this one! Ron and Lynn are definitely super hosts! The breakfast treats and juices they left for us were yummy. They are on the property so if you happened to need anything, you can get them immediately. The hot tub was dreamy. We LOVED the fireplace. Mints by the bed are such a thoughtful touch. I truly can’t say enough good things about this property or the owners. Will definitely visit again!

Great house close to Ft. mountain state park

House was wonderful, fully stocked, and close to Fort Mountain State Park. My kids loved the pastries and orange juice owners left for us. Would highly recommend staying here!

Hallmark Experience

We wanted a get away to celebrate my grandbabies birthdays and we were so extremely happy with our stay. The owners are so sweet and precious and they make sure to go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The only negative experience was when it was time to leave.

Wonderful place to stay!

Everything was smooth from start to finish. The owner met us shortly after arrival and made us feel completely at home. The location is perfect for hikers, sightseers, family fun or just relaxing in the mountain air.

Wonderful home with amazing hosts!

We had a great stay at Fernwood. Good location, we had everything we needed in the home. Lynn and Ron are amazing hosts. I may have felt more welcomed than at my own family members homes. Thanks you Lynn and Ron!!

Great place in a great spot

Our desire was to get out into the woods for a while and this definitely let us do that. The cabin is very nice and has a hot tub, dart board and fire pit that we took advantage of during our time there. It is close to various hiking trails and not terribly far from a town should you desire to go to some restaurants or stores. All in all it was a nice stay at a very nice place!

Wonderful mountain retreat

We were looking for a house close to Fort Mountain State Park when we found this jewel. The house is very comfortable with many added touches to make sure your stay is comfortable. It is a great base for going hiking, scenic driving and visiting the local wineries. Whereas most houses have the bare necessities in the kitchen, laundry, bathroom, etc...this house has so much more! The cleanliness, attention to detail, and extra supplies in the house are very thoughtful touches. Plenty of games and activities at the house to keep you occupied and happy. Big windows throughout the house add to the lovely ambiance of the wooded setting of this house. Our hosts shared plenty of information about the house and the area. They are on-site but you would never know it unless you need them. Overall a wonderful experience. It's a short 8 miles drive to Chatsworth, and an 18 mile drive to Ellijay. Both drives are very scenic. Ellijay has a lot to offer for a small mountain town. And you are only about 5 minutes from Fort Mountain State Park where there are great hiking trails, kayak rentals etc. We would definitely stay here again.

Quick weekend refresh

We came out to Fernwood to run away from Life for just the weekend! Wish we could have stayed longer, lovely cabin, amazing views and Ron and Lynn are just the sweetest! So thoughtful and so helpful! We will be back!

Mountain escape

Our family enjoyed our mountain escape to Fern Wood over Spring Break. We were able to spend some quality time with the family while relaxing and taking in the beautiful views and scenery near Fort Mountain State Park. The house had all of the amenities we could have needed and the owners were extremely welcoming and accommodating. The entire experience was amazing and the check-in and check-out process was so easy. We hope to stay at Fern Wood again and would recommend it to anyone looking for an escape from the city.

Our Perfect Hallmark WHITE Christmas

From the moment I saw this place on VRBO it was instant LOVE! I LOVED that the home was completely decorated for Christmas! Fernwood is the most incredible home, ....with the most amazing views from every window or porch & the host & hostess exceeded any & all our expectations! The attention to detail that is so beautifully decorated in every room by Mrs Lynn was just perfection! & the home baked pastries with coffee & juice was also proof of her gift of hospitality! Mr. Ron met us at the rental & gave us a friendly orientation to the household & also had set up everything outside from darts/cornhole/horse shoes , hot tub & even set up & stacked the fire pit so it was ready for our s’mores treat (which Mrs Lynn already had in a tray ready to take to the fire pit!). It was a Christmas we will always cherish & we hope to return in spring or fall!!!

A restful retreat in the Mountains!

We really needed to get away and relax. We did that as well as hiking nearby. Fernwood is a cozy, well appointed cabin with owners that go the extra mile. We will be back!

This is a beautiful home with a cozy and warm feel! Great views and super kind hosts.

We visited for a ladies friend's weekend and enjoyed our stay very much. The house has all the accommodations needed for a home including lots of spices and appliances in the kitchen. We loved that bc we all took turns cooking and had all we needed. The views are beautiful from the home and surrounding areas, and we enjoyed the fire pit and the hiking near by. Ron and Lynn are very kind and accommodating hosts, and they live on property, which was convenient for any needs, and they were not intrusive. They were very personable and accessible even before our arrival via phone. However, this is good to know if guests do not want the owner so close during your stay. I will look forward to booking here again in the future.

Wonderful Relaxing Mountain Getaway

We had such an amazing time at Fernwood. Ron and Lynn made our stay extra special by providing hiking maps, suggestions on places to visit, special snacks and s'mores! The house has everything you need and more. Hot tub, fire pit, corn hole, and darts. The sunrise and sunset views were amazing. We even had a bear cub stop by for a visit. We highly recommend this gem in the Georgia mountains.

Fernwood getaway

The owners were easily accessible and extremely friendly. They stopped by to check on us frequently from their downstairs suite and were kind enough to gift us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our marathon finish. The cabin is cozy and comfortable. Everything you could possible need for cooking is in the kitchen. The hot tub and fire pit are nice amenities. I was lucky enough to glimpse the neighborhood bear.

Stay at Fernwood

The house was wonderful and the property beautiful. We loved the hot tub and the views! The deck is amazing. We were a little surprised that the owners actually stay in the house, in the basement, during the rental, but they were very sweet.

We built Fernwood on this beautiful Mountain 16 years ago----moving from Atlanta----and we love it. We're Grandparents, Foodies, lovers of Music, especially country and oldies, and we're big Sports Fans-----especially Braves and Falcons, UGA and Gamecocks. Travel---Love Hilton Head and Seaside on the Gulf. Traveled to Cozumel for snorkeling and Taos for skiing. Love cooking and entertaining and this is definitely a perfect home for that. Our family loves competing in everything from Board Games, Horseshoes, Darts, Fishing, Hiking and Cooking and Fernwood Lends itself to that fun perfectly.

We traveled all over North Georgia looking for a place with both short and long range views. We found that site atop Fort Mountain which also had Carter's lake approximately 10 miles away and many small towns with excellent restaurants and shops. The area also has history dating back to at least the 11th century and the Geological history is unique to the rest of the Blue Ridge mountains. Being just 2 1/2 miles from the Ft Mountain State Park has been wonderful with all the activities they have with Hiking, Boating, Fishing. Swimming, Paddle Boarding and Camping. Our Grandsons have grown up there. We also love being right off Scenic Highway 52, especially when there is Ice and Snow on the Mountain. The GDOT takes good care of the Highway and we are among the few who can get out of the Subdivision and get to the Grocery Store. Highway noise is not a problem at all since we built our home with thick 2x6 framing and double paned windows.

Sitting high on top of Ft Mountain allows so many positives. The Views are wonderful, as we have mentioned already, but we built Fernwood to enjoy them inside and outside. On a clear night, we can see the lights of the cities 15 and 30 miles away from the two upstairs bedrooms. At Christmas we generally have a light snow on property. Home is decorated for each season and holiday. View of the mountain vistas from the front porch rockers with a cup of coffee is awe inspiring.
