Fabulous!! The house was clean, warm and very well equipped. Wonderful water front location. The village has everything you need and all the shops are so well stocked. Thank you Tracey, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

A great place to stay 40 yards from the bus stop to Kirkwall and 700 yards from the ferry terminal you can’t ask for better

We had a fantastic time staying in the property, it was very clean and comfortable and in a very good location, there is a post office just around the corner which sells a wide selection of food and things. We would recommend to our friends.

Beautiful location with excellent facilities

This cottage has everything you would need in a lovely location next to the loch. St Margaret's Hope is a beautiful little village with an excellent pub/seafood restaurant and a well-stocked shop. This is a great place to explore Orkney from.

Lovely location

We had a very comfortable stay at St Margarets Hope. The little house has everything you need. The location on the slipway is just beautiful but it was a little chilly to take full advantage of it. We enjoyed going back and forth over the Churchill Barriers

Waterfront

We loved staying at 2 The Noust - a lovely little house in a fabulous location. The pub, PO/shop and bus stop are only a 2 minute walk away and the ferry terminal is only a 2 minute drive away. All this with peace and quiet too.

Christmas Cracker.

The property was perfectly located and had pretty much everything we needed for Christmas and anew Year. It was warm, even in subzero temperatures. The bed was comfy and we even managed a bottle of bubbles out on the slip one evening.

Perfect location

Comfortable cottage with everything you need while visiting Orkney. Stunning view from front door. Shops, bar and restaurant within walking distance. And don’t miss the fish and chip van when it visits on a Saturday. Host found EarPods left behind and kindly returned to us by post.

Perfect cozy spot!

We had a great experience at the home and wish it could have been longer. Our arrival was delayed by a cancelled ferry trip and the host was immediately responsive to our questions about a late arrival and made it super-easy for us. The house is exactly what you need as a peaceful base for exploring Orkney, was very clean, and met all our expectations. We highly recommend using it for your own travels!

An amazing, beautiful property next to the sea. One of the main ferries to the island docks a few hundred meters away. The location is everything you’d wish for a Scottish Island getaway, the peace and tranquility is good for the soul. The local area is pretty, with lots to see and do further away on Orkney. Robertsons coffeehoose is also a bar just up the road, and with several shops and places to eat in St Margaret’s Hope itself this property makes for a great base. Highly recommended and our thanks to the host.

Gateway to Orkney

We stayed at the Waterside Cottage in St Margaret’s Hope during our too short visit to beautiful Orkney. The cottage is situated in the charming town of St Margaret’s Hope, a drive away from the bigger enclave of Kirkwall. It met all of our needs and the views of the water from outside were gorgeous. We had ferocious weather during our stay and still we were in awe of the sunrises and sunsets, were visited by harbor seals, and witnessed more rainbows then we could count! We look forward to visiting again sometime.

We Enjoyed Our Stay

Pros: Tracey was waiting to welcome us. The cottage was comfortable. The cottage was warm and cosy (this was important because it was very cold when we were there.) The cottage was well equipped. We had very good internet (not so good phone reception with EE and O2) There were lots of interesting brochures and books to look at, and some games too. It was lovely being in the village and walking round to the shops to get bits and pieces. Cons: Unfortunately, the kitchen wasn't very clean - pans and some equipment needed to be washed before use, and the oven was filthy. There was no curtain over the roof light in the bedroom and so we got bright early morning light in the room before 5 am.

Great sized cottage for a stay in Orkney, it is well equipped and is very cosy.A short drive if coming over on the Pentland ferry, St Margaret’s Hope has 2 well stocked shops and a new playground for kids.Great for sitting out on the rocking bench just watching the ferry come in and chatting to passers bye and locals.

Rooms with a view

We were welcomed at the doorstep by our host. Located by the Harbour, we watched the fisherman bring his catch in, which probably appeared on our plates at the Murray Arms later on. The cottage had everything needed for a two night stay to explore the Orkneys and was close to the ferry. St Margaret’s Hope has an interesting craft shop.

An excellent property

Tracey’s property was perfect for the my wife and I. Fully equipped right down to washing liquid for the pots. The waterside location is in one of the most attractive villages in Orkney. Overall we couldn’t fault it
