The house had a wonderful view. The gated decks and yard was perfect for our dog. The outdoor fireplace is closely positioned to the house, making it accessible and giving a wonderful vibe. The road to get there is curvy, hilly and narrow, but quite doable.

The Black Dog House was just perfect, nicely decorated, quiet and uncluttered. The sunrise from the back porch every morning was nice to view. The fenced in yard was great for our dog and maintenance took care of some poison ivy immediately. It was good to have the sleeping areas separated in the three levels. I wish we have more time to use the pool table, hot tub and the outdoor fire place (burn ban in place). The drive to the cabin was all right once I got used to the drive. If I get the chance I would definitely stay again.

This "cabin" is extremely clean, well-crafted, and appointed. A perfect 5-night getaway for my wife and me with our two dogs. Every floor, ceiling, and wall is wood-paneled, and though we didn't use it, the cabin has a nice, large, equally finished and furnished basement with a couch, fireplace, pool table, TV, wet bar, and other amenities. The fenced-in area is a must for dog owners, and there seem to be few cabins that have it. The view of distant mountains is very good, but everything beneath, including the valley is obstructed by overgrowth that could and should be cut down. Other than that, everything was absolutely great. Note that the roads and driveway right up to the cabin itself are all paved. Steep and very curvy, but all paved, and easily managed with our Subaru Forester. The cabin itself feels isolated though there are many high-quality canins on the road in the area. Bottom line, all good, no negative suprises, I definitely recommend.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was the right size for two couples and an almost walking baby. The view is spectacular. We tried our best to put everything in order before we left. Our only comment includes an accidental alarm going to the fire department while trying to disable the alarms. We apologize for that. The vent above the stove does not vent to the outside, instead, going back into the kitchen so we set off the alarms almost every time we cooked. Thanks for allowing us to have family time.

Gorgeous views, relaxing family stay

We stayed 5 nights in the spring. The house was exactly as described with the views being even more spectacular in person. We went with our two young children and our 80lb dog. We took advantage of hiking trails and horseback riding in the area.

Relaxing stay in the mountains

The property is very nice, it was a relaxing cabin stay in the mountains just as we had hoped. The cabin offered all the amenities and more. Would recommend and visit again.

Wonderful place for families with pets

We loved our stay at Black Dog of Blue Ridge. It’s convenient to town (but make sure you follow the host directions and not Google), has great views from the deck, a comfortable outside fireplace in winter, and a perfect fenced yard for pups who like to run around. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to travel back soon

Great Vacation

We had the best time celebrating our anniversary. The cabin was amazing. Very clean and looked just like the pictures. Would love to come back again!
