We stayed in the macaw suite for 7 nights, and had a great time in Roatan. The property is on the far west end of west bay, which seemed to be less busy that the middle or eastern side, but it's quite a walk to the far west end where the best shore snorkeling is. If you are planning to dive, it's very close to west bay divers (who are fantastic!). The included breakfast was a nice touch, including yogurt, granola, toast, bagels, cereal, local coffee, fresh squeezed juice, and delicious fresh fruit, even some bananas that came from a tree on the property! The pool is great and we loved the hammocks on the patio.
The only downside to the hotel, is the distance from the beach. It's not that far, but it's up a bit of a hill, and after long day in the heat, it was no fun to trudge back up to the room. There is also a very smelly dumpster you have to pass every time you walk down. And at night, don't forget your flashlight, because it's not lit, but if you stop on the cement bridge and look up, the lack of light gives you a breathtaking view of the night sky. The distance from the beach also makes it really quiet and peaceful.
Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend it to others.
