Robert Weed, We are saddened to hear that your very first trip to Mexico was not up to your standards. This home has been in our family over 25 years and we have never received any complaints before. That said, I understand that your experience with the potential intruder shaped your view of not only our home as well as your trip. In all of our years we have never experienced anything like this in our home or our town. Other homes were also targeted by this person and gladly some of those did call 911 (dialed just as you would in the US), and the person was caught the following morning. Thankfully throughout all of that no one was hurt. Hopefully you understand that a situation such as that is entirely out of our control and in no way a reflection of how our home is kept. In addition, we always include a gate key (which is on the key ring handed over upon check-in) and the beach gate lock. We have also taken additional steps to secure the property, including additional bars for windows (we have always kept spares in the laundry room and have added more) and exterior cameras have been installed monitoring both entrances to the property. As far as locating the property, all our guests are asked to call upon arrival and to meet our property manager at an easy to find location, neither of these were done by you and Julie only received a call from you after you couldn’t locate the house (which would have been inaccessible anyway as all entrances are locked). This information was supplied prior to your travel date, and we have taken steps to ensure it is clearly received. As far as maintenance on the home, we had the Viking service rep look over the entire range unit, service it and order a new igniter for the stove burners, as that was the only issue found. Regarding the toilet you refer to, we would have been happy to send our repair person to fix it for the duration of your stay. We were only made aware of the issue after your check out and have since replaced the entire toilet after finding parts had been removed. The kayak is available, and I apologize it was not visible to you for use. Also a new BBQ was in the process of being purchased and assembled. We were not made aware of your desire to use it, otherwise would have interrupted your stay for installation. A reminder when traveling using VRBO and the like, you are staying in someone’s home. Rearranging furniture, light fixtures, modifying sprinkler systems etc is extremely disrespectful to personal property. We wish you all the best on your future travels.
