My wife and i stayed for a week the end of March 2014. We had a wonderful time. cottage 1R is awesome, the weather was awesome, the beach is awesome, the fishing is awesome, snorkeling is awesome, bahamas Ricardo rum is awesome, bahams kalik beer is awesome though expensive, petes bar is awesome and most important the owner Chad is awesome. Whenever you make plans on the internet for a vacation you don't really know what to expect when you you arrive. but we lucked out and could not have asked for anything better. this is a great place for diy bonefishing, snorkeling, walking the beach and relaxing. the bonefish, there are lots of them, hard to catch but it can be done. for me small flies 3x fluro tippet were the trick, bring flies with weed guards for the turtle grass! nothing like dozens of bf tails glittering in the sunlight at low tide in the turtle grass or a school of 50 fish cruising the sand flats toward you at high tide. lucky for me there were some dumb bf not schooled in the ways of a michigan fly fisherman. Snorkeling around the little islands that you can reach with the boat or kayak was really great[a bazzilion fish most of which i dont have a clew what they are but they were beautifull] and a nice break from fishing. we met lots of nice nice people walking the beach, from the usa, france, norway, uk, everyone was very nice. the beach is nice as it gets you can walk forever looking for shells or just take in the moment. if you go to petes bar and like fish get the trigger fish if they have it, best fish i have ever had. the cottage is supper nice, clean, comfy with all the comforts of home. Chad the owner is a super guy and close by incase you need something or info. he helped us with the boats, fishing maps, directions in the area and even got us fresh mahi mahi to cook for dinner. the only problem is a week isnt long enough!
