Tara (host) was at the villa for our arrival but there was no welcome book (speak to restaurant, gym, nearby restaurants etc) or walk through of hot tub, fire pit etc. Gym pass was in random basket we couldn’t locate without contacting host. The overall cleanliness was mediocre with piles of debris/landscaping scraps on patio, patio furniture had burn holes. No extra towels, no towels or hand towel rack in main bathroom because it was broken. Toilet roll holder broken in main bathroom as well. The laundry room had a terrible smell from the leftover cleaning items used by housekeeping which left a moldy/rotten smell right next to kitchen. Patio doors did not lock and unlock properly and response from property manager was it is safe enough not to lock if we left house. All beds were sub par, especially for a luxury villa post. My senior mom slept on couch several nights after waking up uncomfortable. Microwave didn’t work, took 5 days and more follow up messages to get a new one. Hosts were very nice and offered helpful information but several simple improvements to the villa (such as extra towels, blankets) and a process for welcoming new guests would reduce a lot of misunderstandings and frustrations. Location was great. The best part of our stay came at the end when our flight was cancelled and we were able to pay the property manager directly to extend our stay by 2 days. He was extremely helpful and quick to respond alleviating the stress of relocating. Overall, it is a great location and great view but I would not consider it a LUXURY villa in comparison to other luxury villas I have stayed at with VRBO.
