excellent

Lovely and extremely well presented gite, warm welcome from Paul & Anita on arrival.Great setting and very peaceful with lots of activities around the area. Paul & Anita were very helpful in recommending local markets and events, but were not intrusive in any way. The gite was well equipped with everything you would need making it an excellent holiday and would love to return.

Lovely gite but the welcome could have been better

The gite is very comfortable and well-furnished, the only downside is poor noise insulation between top floors and bottom floors. But our welcome on arrival from Paul was very disappointing - five of us arrived instead of the planned four but rather than wait to hear the reason and short duration of the additional person Paul threw the rulebook at us and turned a minor blip into a source of tension - particularly unwelcome after a long drive. Over the week Anita made up for this as she is most welcoming and helpful.

Mirabelle gite is registered and insured to sleep a maximum of 4 people. This is clearly stated on the booking form all guests complete on reserving the gite. Therefore when 5 people turn up without any prior agreement it is only expected that the owner would be both concerned and annoyed with the situation. Even so, we amicably let the 5 people stay within the gite and at no extra cost. Yes the cottage does have wooden floors like all buildings that are 200 years old. These are the only guests that have complained about the noise between floors in 5 years, so maybe allowing the unauthorised 5th person to stay was to our detriment. Maybe an apology from our guests for the situation would have been nice, but instead they decide to give us an unfair review, showing the world can be an unkind place at times!.

Cool cottage

Great gite had everything you need for a quiet stay and only 5 minutes drive to Hautefort, the heat was excessive that week but had no problems in sleeping the bedrooms being on the ground floor, definitely go back if we have summers with temperatures up to 40 degrees.

Very clean, well equipped cottage

We chose this cottage because it had two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. My friend and I are both widows and like our own space. There was a bit of confusion when we arrived as one of the bedrooms had two single beds, but this was rectified the following day. The cottage is ideal for two couples or a small family. The bedrooms are downstairs as are the toilets which was a little “inconvenient “. The cottage is well equipped and is close to Hautefort with it’s impressive castle. The etang de coucou and the restaurant was worth a visit. We had very good weather for the week, with just a little rain on the Friday afternoon. We didn’t see much of Paul and Anita as we wanted a relaxing week ,and didn’t want too many outings, but when we did see them , we found them friendly. The only problem we had during the week was the internet which was not working very well. All in all we would recommend this cottage both for a restful holiday or as a base from which to explore the area.

Wifi:- Regretfully during our guests stay the commune of Hautefort experienced 2 days without telephone/internet, we had no control over this situation, but respect this caused an inconvenience. Bedrooms:- Sadly these are our first guests in 10 years to have found this unsuitable. As both floor levels can be accessed from outside, the bedrooms are positioned on the bottom floor, this arrangement helps to keep them cool during the hot summer months.

Wonderful Mirabelle!

We spent a fortnight in this delightful, superbly equipped, spotlessly clean gite in beautiful grounds. The weather was very warm and we ate all our meals on the decking patio which had the luxury of some overhead shading. Everything we needed for our comfort was provided (including a teapot!!) Although Mirabelle adjoins the owners property we always had privacy but Anita and Paul were delightful hosts and were available if ever we needed to approach them. Some wonderful places to visit and at the end of a day it was a joy to return to this peaceful, idyllic 'home'.We feel we have made two friends and we would happily return and recommend this property to anyone!

Beyone expectations

Paul and Anita are the most welcoming hosts and friendliest of people; you can spend ages chatting and they went out there way to help and give advice of the area. The house has been renovated to a very high spec. The beds are really comfy and the amenities easy to use. We spent most of our time relaxing on the deck watching the sun go down sampling the local red wine. You will have a great stay here! and I look forward to retuning soon.

Excellent self contained gite

The property was amazing, as were the owners and were very helpful in advising of where to visit and what to see in the area (Sarlat is a must!). The gite is well equipped and maintained to a very high standard and the terrace is great for evening dining. Paul and Anita were very welcoming hosts, as was Treacle the dog! The area itself is very quiet and within easy driving distance of many nice towns and villages. We would definitely stay again.

A lovely place to stay

This is an immaculately modernised but characterful gite, with great facilities. It is in a beautiful and peaceful countryside setting, yet only minutes from a good boulangerie, and from enjoyable restaurants in nearbye Hautefort. There is a wide range of things to see and do in the area, and the excellent English hosts, Paul and Anita, have years of experience to be able to advise their guests. Very enjoyable!

Bedankt Paul & Anita, we komen zeker terug!

A really enjoyable week

The weather was sometimes warm, sometimes a little hotter and we really enjoyed the week, some of it spent in the garden and some of it visiting the nearby attractions. We particularly enjoyed Perigueux, Bourdeilles, Brantome, Hautefort, Excideuil, Segur le Chateau, Terrasson and Saint Robert. There are lots of lovely villages and chateaux to see. The holiday cottage, to one side of the main house, was spotlessly clean and well equipped and gave plenty of privacy in the garden area. Thank you Anita and Paul for being so welcoming, for the surprise walnuts and also for letting us stay in your lovely cottage.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

When you visit Mirabelle you will find beautiful views in all directions with peace and tranquillity. Many of our guests are return visitors, which gives us the confidence to know we are doing things right! The cottage snuggles into its location and with the decked sun terrace area straight outside the kitchen door, a morning tea or coffee croissant, sets everyone up for a holiday that is hard to beat. Mirabelle is located centrally for visiting many of the Dordogne's most famous tourist sites: Sarlat, Lascaux, Domme, Brantome to name but just a few of many. The village of HAUTEFORT is only 3 miles away where you will find 6 restaurants, a super market, a medical centre, a chemist, a tourist office, baker, butcher, small grocery store, garage, craft brewery, a newsagents and various other gift shops. Of course compared to the magnificent HAUTEFORT chateau these all pale into the background. The local area also has a wealth of activities to suite everyone's needs - canoeing down the local rivers, golfing, tennis, cycling, swimming, wakeboarding, caving, rock climbing. The nearby lake (5 minutes drive) also has a inflatable water park where many a fun day can be had by adults and children alike. There is also a paintball park for further adventure.

この宿泊施設の特徴

Mirabelle is on the edge of a small hamlet making it an ideal for countryside lovers with the wonderful Dordogne outlook. Here, in Maumont, you will find the local vineyard and an ancient farm where you will see ducks, chickens, geese and sheep wandering around freely. Straight from the cottage you can join a myriad of local signed pathways, for walking, cycling and even pony or donkey trekking! Some guests have rented bikes while others have brought their own, and for these we have a large covered area for storing at your leisure. We have an unusual layout, with the bedrooms being downstairs, this allows for beautifully cool bedrooms, a welcome treat in the summertime. The cottage gardens consist of open and woodland providing both sun and shade, though you have no traffic noise what-so-ever, the 'silence' is filled with bird chatter and red squirrels calling their young. We are also nearby, but not intrusive, to help book and advise on local activities and restaurants.
