We stayed at Chateau l'Hubertiere with friends and had a great time exploring the local area. The chateau is in a small village which has a bakery and a bistro. Its not far from the airport at Poitiers where you can hire a car. The village has a tennis court that we used and it was free of charge. There is a little lake and an old church. There is even a castle ruin just outside the village.
The chateau is huge, with a lovely spiral stone staircase, spacious living areas, two dining tables that seat 10 people, plus a really nice Conservatory that opens up to the pool and rear grounds. The chateau is beautifully furnished, the beds comfortable, with good quality bedding and towels. We had a four poster in the bedroom that had an ensuite with a bath and shower.
The kitchen is well stocked and there is even a little kitchen off the main one so two large fridges are available.
The grounds are well kept, with a large pool, BBQ and outdoor seating area, with lots of trees and are very private at the rear. The front of the chateau has massive wrought iron gates and there are automatic electric gates that lead to the parking area next to the stables that look more like a Manor house than stables.
The owners were very accommodating and advised us where to go and what to see in the local area such as castles, fortified medieval villages, restaurants and even Roman ruins that are not far.
Overall a wonderful place for a holiday with family and friends. Something very special. Five Stars
