Welcome to the Mas des Taillades, a beautiful property located in the village of Banne in the hamlet of Les Avelas, Banne village of character nestled at the foot of the Cévennes is distinguished by the atypical presence of 27 dolmens and many architectural treasures (remains of the medieval castle).<br>This former sandstone silkworm farm, completely restored, is 300 m2 on several levels, it includes 12 rooms, 2 terraces, an enclosed plot of 1500 m2 planted with olive trees, fruit trees and chestnut trees and embellished with an 11 x 4 m chlorine swimming pool with submerged roller shutter.<br>The Mas consists of a fully equipped kitchen, 1 dining room, 1 living room with fireplace, 1 upstairs living room, 1 library/office, 6 bedrooms, 1 bathroom/toilet, 3 shower rooms/toilet, a terrace of 35 m2 and 12 m2.<br>The configuration of the house (stone stairs...) is not suitable for young children.<br>2 parking spaces in front of the property other "public" parking spaces are 150 m away.<br>The farmhouse is rented from Sunday to Sunday.

Beautiful but not for everyone

A beautiful old stone house which has been extensively renovated with lots of interesting features. It is set in a very peaceful location and has a lovely enclosed garden and pool. There is an excellent terrace adjoining the house - a lovely place to sit in the shade overlooking the garden. We stayed as a couple in this house listed for 12 people. We were comfortable but I cannot imagine 10 more adults using the space. It's probably more accurate to say the house is suitable for 3 couples plus children. The house is full of character but with hazards - the main stone staircase has no bannister and there are uneven steps between many of the rooms - not safe for the very old/young. There are lots of pretty feature lights but the electrics look overloaded with lots of extension leads/multiple sockets. We were wary of turning too many things on at once. Sheets and towels are not included in the price and we were happy to bring our own but we were only told about this after we had paid. Given that the house is expensive I found this quite surprising. Overall this is a wonderful holiday home to own, but might be hazardous for new occupants who are not familiar with it.

Lovely August summer holiday

We loved the house, there were multiple beds for our family of 6 adults and 5 children to choose from and plenty of space for us. Sensitively renovated into an interesting and attractive series of spaces in which to be together and also to enjoy a little peace and quiet. The terrace was a lovely spot for eating in the shade and relaxing together with nice views of the surrounding hillside and tasty figs. The pool was a big draw for us, and was warm and perhaps bigger than the photo suggests. We had a problem with the water but it was sorted out swiftly. Great collection of board games, and music left for guests to use. The local bicycle route/walking track runs into the local village for morning croissants and bread (15-20 mins by gentle bike ride. Lots of easy access space for storing bikes under the house. Bring mosquito repellant/plug ins a little speaker for the terrace, coffee beans for the bean to cup machine and don’t forget swimming towels (although you can rent sheets/bath towels, ask for current rates) Big thanks to the last reviewer as I don’t think we would have clocked the arrangements re linen without their comment. The weather was extraordinarily hot this August so a fan or two wouldn’t have gone amiss but appreciate that it’s perhaps not usually necessary. More space to hang or put away clothes would be a bonus.
