I chose Bruny Island for its raw, untouched beauty and sense of seclusion, making it the perfect escape. The landscape here is breathtaking - rugged coastlines, pristine beaches, towering sea cliffs, and dense eucalyptus forests create a setting that feels truly special.

What we love most is the connection to nature. Whether it's waking up to the sound of waves, spotting native wildlife like wallabies and white-bellied sea eagles, or enjoying the incredible local produce - there’s something truly immersive about being here. The light shifts throughout the day, painting the rooms in different hues, through our unique light wells and at night, the sky is filled with stars, completely unspoiled by city lights, and if you're lucky the Aurora Australis.

Bruny Island has a strong sense of place, where time slows down, and you can truly unwind. It's about simple pleasures - long walks along empty beaches, fresh oysters straight from the farm, and the feeling of being completely away from it all while still having access to some of Tasmania’s best food and wine experiences.

For my family and I, this area is a retreat, a sanctuary, and an experience all in one - and we love sharing that with our guests.

Tunnel is a truly unique accommodation experience that blends striking architectural design with the island’s raw, natural beauty. Designed by Room11 Architects, the building is constructed from precast concrete, creating a sculptural form that feels both grounded and in harmony with the dramatic landscape. The light wells are a standout feature, drawing in shifting natural light throughout the day, casting dynamic shadows, and creating an ever-changing atmosphere within the space. The interiors are minimalist yet warm, with carefully curated materials that allow the surrounding environment to take centre stage. Every element has been designed to provide a sense of stillness and retreat, making it the perfect escape for those looking to slow down and reconnect with nature.

Beyond its architectural brilliance, Tunnel offers an immersive connection to Bruny Island’s untamed beauty. The secluded setting allows guests to experience the sound of waves, the sight of wallabies at dusk, and an unspoiled night sky filled with stars. While feeling wonderfully remote, guests are still within reach of Bruny Island’s best produce and experiences—whether it's fresh oysters from Get Shucked, cheese and wine from local artisans, or a private in-house dining experience with local chef Simon Ford. The experience is raw yet refined, offering both luxury and simplicity, designed for those who appreciate both architectural excellence and deep immersion in nature.
